Matthew Perry Is 'Determined To Get Back On Track' Following 'Friends' Reunion: Source

As fans may recall, Friends actor Matthew Perry was unfairly criticized on social media in the weeks before and following the highly anticipated HBO Max reunion of the beloved '90s sitcom. Viewers were quick to call out his slurred speech and expressed concern about his behaviour during the special.

Now, the actor is reportedly determined to get "back on track" following the flood of criticsm.

As you may recall, the highly anticipated *Friends* reunion special was clouded by everyone's opinions about Matthew Perry's appearance and slurred speech.

In one part of the interview, Matthew recalled a story of stealing a prop from the set, saying: "I stole the cookie jar that had the clock on it." However, some fans thought the word "stole" had a strange "sh" sound to it.

This slurred speech, paired with the remarks about his looks left fans of Matthew worried about the 51-year-old.

Fans later found out the star's slurred speech was due to a medical procedure he had the day prior to filming.

"Matthew turned up at the reunion and members of his team said he had an emergency tooth procedure that day," a source told The Sun at the time.

Soon after the statement, the director of the special Ben Winston slammed the negative comments, telling *The Hollywood Reporter* that Matthew was "great" and "people can sometimes just be unkind."

Friends executive producer Kevin Bright also assured fans that the actor was doing just fine, saying "I think he’s OK. He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward."

However, the comments about Matthew's appearance didn't go unnoticed.

“The things people were saying about how terrible he looked really hurt him,” a source told OK!.

"Now he’s determined to get back on track physically and mentally."

It's clear to see Matthew has been thriving in the months following the special — just take a look at his Instagram!

"He’s sticking to a low-carb diet and drinking lots of green juices and protein shakes," the source added. "He's even hired a trainer and started lifting weights, which is something he hates."

We're glad to see Matthew is feeling better than ever. Wishing you all the best, friend!
