39-Year-Old Woman Answers Common Questions About Her Naturally Gray Hair

I have to admit something to you — I have gray hair. Shocking, I know, hee-hee. I started noticing some when I was in my late 20s. It was devastating at the beginning, and it only got worse as the years went by.

So I can understand how this 39-year old woman, may get a lot of interesting looks since she decided to let her gray show.

It's not that common to see a 39-year old woman with a visible strands of gray hair.

I mean, most women prefer to hide their gray away. It's a stereotype that's actually starting to go away, which I'm thankful for.

So it's really refreshing to see someone like Alice Guimaraes embrace her grays with such gusto.

You can see all her gorgeous pictures on her Instagram account. There she doesn't shy away from talking about her journey to loving her gray hair.

She often brings awareness to issues of sexism when it comes to women and gray hair.

She even said on Instagram that she frequently hears this phrase, "gray hair is beautiful for men but awful for women." Do you agree with that statement?

I definitely do not.

A woman should be able to have any hair color as she chooses. It doesn't matter if she dyes her hair in bright pink, blond, or lets her gray show. In my opinion, she would be beautiful either way.

Recently, Alice answered some common questions about her gray hair, and her answers were interesting.

For example, somebody asked if her gray hair makes her feel old. And to my pleasant surprise, she said they do not. That's awesome to hear, no?

She was also asked if she gets any mean comments from men.

And her experience is quite the opposite, Alice said that instead, she gets a lot of compliments. That's also wonderful to hear. However, she is a beautiful lady, so I do think that has something to do with it, too.

Alice's gray hair actually started coming out when she was only 25.

Wow, I think that's about the same time as mine did too. People also wanted to know if she would ever dye her hair again. To my surprise, she said that she wasn't sure.

I totally understand where she is coming from indeed.

There are days when I am fully happy to accept my hair the way they are. On the other hand, I am contemplating going to a salon to get a dye job.

Having said that, this time, I think I would pick a gray hue after all.

So you see, it's totally okay for women to embrace their gray hair. Even this surprising hue can look beautiful. Honestly, no matter what's your hair color, it's how you feel about yourself inside that counts.
