Community Rallies Around Restaurant After 'Karen' Leaves Unreasonable Review

While the behavior that defines the "Karen" archetype is nothing new, a rise of retail tantrums within the last two years has all but made it a household name.

That's become pretty bad news for women who happen to be named Karen, but this trend has shed a little light on what kind of customers service employees have to deal with day in and day out.

And it seems that the members of one community are starting to get as tired of Karens as their unfortunate targets are. And they are not shy about showing it.

In late July, a Reddit user named AdorableEnvironment posted an explosive exchange they witnessed on a local restaurant's Facebook page.

As we can see, one woman was less than satisfied that she wasn't able to get served because she arrived too close to closing time.

But while that's a pretty common and disappointing feeling, she seemed to think that it was a sign of poor business practices rather than just a case of unfortunate timing.

Considering how puzzling her complaint was, it didn't take long before others branded her as a Karen with unrealistic expectations for special treatment.

Many were simply baffled at how this situation reflected poorly on the restaurant, with one user saying, "They turned you away at 8 pm because they closed at 8 pm...I don't see the issue."

As another person put it, "Next time look at their hours before you go."

Another thing that people couldn't understand is why it mattered whether the woman was a local or not.

After all, not only would a member of the community be just as capable of looking up business hours as anyone else, but you might expect them to have a better familiarity with when local haunts close than someone who's new to the area.

And of course, some started to wonder whether she'd accept another person's demand to continue working after closing or whether that rule is just for other people.

So all in all, there was a lot of laughter to be had about the absurdity of thinking you can sneak in after closing because you're a local.

But while her review wasn't so surprising to one commenter, it also registered as more sad than funny to this person.

As she said, "I would like to say I'm shocked at your entitlement, but sadly I'm really not. You clearly have deep seeded issues if this is how you respond to a business not staying past their hours just for your enjoyment."

In any case, it definitely seems like that restaurant is going to end up with more good reviews than bad now.
