Server Shares Tearful Photo After Woman Leaves Bittersweet Note With Tip

Unfortunately, there are a lot of jobs in this world that we can often describe as "thankless."

While you're likely to see the most demoralizing customers in retail and in the service industry, those aren't the only sectors in which you can easily become the "bad guy" just by telling those in your care what they don't want to hear.

But every now and then, there are some experiences that make those kinds of jobs worth it. And while they seem rarer than the negative customers, the kindness and appreciation of some customers can be powerful enough to bring a tear to the eye of even the most jaded retail veteran.

And while there was a sad backstory behind one such case for one waitress, it's hard not to be uplifted by the compassion she shared with one diner.

After a server working at Perkins settled one older woman's bill, she came back to discover this note.

Through it, she learned that her kind-hearted demeanor came as a serious blessing to the woman, who was having a tough time adjusting to life after the recent loss of her husband.

One of the server's statements on Twitter read, "This is my real smile because i am very happy and that note did not break my heart at all."

But of course, seeing the tearful photo accompanying the woman's note makes it all too clear that this was an emotionally overwhelming moment for her.

At the same time, it's hard not to get some fulfillment out of knowing that you made a difference for someone in a vulnerable place in life.

And she continued to show her compassion by stepping in when others balked at the size of the woman's tip.

Since there's a lot about this woman's situation in life that nobody really knows, it's clear that the server didn't take that aspect personally and was just deeply affected by what she wrote.

But aside from that sort of talk, other users were also deeply moved by the note and one detail made a user love it even more.

As they pointed out, there was something they found particularly endearing about the fact that the woman made sure her pen's ink would come out nice and strong before she started writing.

And for some fellow servers, this brought back memories of similar scenarios when they helped a customer who had just experienced a tragic loss.

As we can see, one Twitter user was in a position where she could afford to comfort a customer in a way that undoubtedly made a massive difference to her until the restaurant closed.

If nothing else, these powerful tales serve as a lesson that we never know what kind of impact we can have on the people in our lives just by doing what comes naturally to us.
