A Popular Cleaning Hack Could End Up Damaging Your Vacuum

I can't tell you enough how much I love cleaning hacks. If I can make my house smelling great after a thorough cleaning job, I'm a happy woman. There's something about having that fresh scent in the air, isn't there?

So it's no wonder some moms are resorting to this vacuum hack that seems to be stirring up some controversy. Let's take a look.

Is it just me, or does your vacuum cleaner stink even after your clean it out?

No matter what I do, the vacuum still has that not-so-fresh odor, and I'm starting to get mad about it. So what is one to do?

Well, as I just recently learned, some moms are resorting to an odd cleaning hack.

What they're doing is putting those scented dryer sheets in the vacuum's canister. Oh, wow. Is that a fact? Apparently so, if you believe social media.

Okay, so here's how it goes.

Ladies are putting Fluffy's or Lenor's dryer sheets in the barrel of their vacuum cleaners. One lady even says that these dryer sheets let out a lovely smell whenever you vacuum an area.

Have you ever heard of such a thing?

I have to admit, I haven't until now. But when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. As the canister does its job, the dryer sheets do theirs. It's similar to using them in your clothes dryer.

So, it's no wonder everybody who has heard about this hack on Facebook has been freaking out.

Some even called it a "game-changer" when it comes to getting your house smelling fresher. It's so easy and affordable, too. Don't you think so?

But before you get too excited over discovering a new way to freshen up your house, listen up.

There is something you need to know. Apparently, Dyson, the vacuum maker, got wind of this story, and they're not happy about it.

Dyson officials have commented on this viral hack warned people not to do this.

According to them, putting anything large inside Dyson's bin could reduce the functionality of the appliance. Doing so could cause a loss of suction power. Wowza!

And get this!

The company also says that if you end up using dryer sheets in the bin, you could void the Dyson product guarantee.

So really, that expensive vacuum cleaner you have relied on may start to malfunction. Wouldn't that be a shame?

So knowing this, would you still attempt this vacuum cleaning hack?

Or would you rather suffer the consequences of a stinky house? I think I would listen to the manufacturer and not try to mess with a good thing while I have it.
