Fans Believe Meghan Markle Nicknamed Her Baby 'Lili' In Honor Of Her Mother

You don't have to be a fan of the Royal family to know Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently welcomed their second child, a daughter, into the world this past weekend.

Their baby girl, named Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, has a significant name honoring not only her great grandmother, the Queen but her grandmother Princess Diana, who passed away in 1997.

Now, fans of Meghan are speculating that "Lili" may be a tribute to Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.

In case you can't remember, back in March, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared their excitement over their pregnancy.

They revealed that they were having a girl!

"To have a boy then a girl — what more can you ask for?" Harry said at the time.

He continued:

"Grateful, having any child, any one or a two would have been amazing, but to have a boy and then a girl . . . now we've got our family and we've got four of us."

Their rainbow baby comes after Meghan Markle opened up about her devastating miscarriage last summer.

Meghan had experienced a sharp pain as she was holding her son, and she fell to the ground.

"I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second," she wrote.

Of course, this makes the news of Lilibet's birth is all the more meaningful.

So excuse me while I grab the tissues to dab at my eyelids now that we're getting into the gorgeous meaning behind the beautiful baby's name.

It was on Sunday that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared the news that they had recently welcomed their baby girl.

The pair took to their Archewell website to inform fans themselves with a personal message.

"On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili," the pair began.

"She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe."

The statement concluded: "Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."

Now, fans are realizing that Meghan might have picked the nickname "Lili" as a subtle tribute to her mother, Doria Ragland.

Twitter fans believe the nickname is a subtle reference to Doria's childhood nickname for Meghan, which was "flower", as reported by The Sun.

According to *The Sun* The Duchess revealed that "flower" was the "nickname my mom has called me since I was little" in a blog post published on her now-inactive lifestyle website, The Tig, back in 2016.

Fans on Twitter are overwhelmed for the happy couple.

They simply could not stop gushing over the name and nickname.

"I really like the name. Diana was pretty much a given as her second name." one user wrote.

"And they have both spoken about HM with love . I truly believe she has been kind to Meghan. Maybe the only one who was....

Also like to think that "Lili" is a nod to Doria as she calls Meghan her flower.❤️"

Another Twitter user wrote:

"Lilibet Diana is a beautiful name and full of tenderness toward Harry's grandmother and mother. Calling her "Lili" is a nod to Doria's incredible love for Meghan, who she nicknamed 'Flower.'"
