Costco Workers Advise People On What Not To Buy From The Store

Going to Costco is a lot like an episode of Oprah. YOU GET A LAWNMOWER AND YOU GET 15 POUNDS OF HAM FOR $10.99.

In other words, there are endless things you can buy at a ridiculously low price.

But what if we told you that there are some items that you shouldn't dare buy from Costco.

Once you wipe that shocked expression off your face, keep reading!

1. Produce

While you might assume quality might be to blame, it's actually the sheer size of the produce.

"I personally don't eat veggies fast enough to buy in bulk, so two thirds of it will spoil before I eat it," a Minnesota-based Costco worker told Business Insider. Many other Costco employees agreed.

Just think about that package of salad greens you buy — then forget about — every week.

Then imagine wasting a Costco-sized package of four of them.

For those who actually do eat produce that fast, they're in luck. Costco employees say that they have the best produce since the chain picks first before grocery stores.

2. Mayonnaise

Unless you plan to get elbow-deep in making chicken salad sandwiches, you probably don't need a gigantic jar of mayonnaise.

Eat This, Not That has found that it's loaded with "salt, sugar, and other preservatives.' They also said that the product can go bad.

3. Kirkland Signature marinara sauce

Any true Italian would turn their nose up at this sauce. In one Chowhound thread, one described a very odd aftertaste.

"perhaps a pseudo-garlic kind of lapdance on my tastebuds," while another wrote, "H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E. Like Spaghettio's without all the pesty [sic] pasta."

4. Kirkland Signature Chicken Bake

As a whole, the Costco food court is pretty freaking awesome. Where else can you buy a club pack of toilet paper and get a hot dog and a pop for $1.50?!

Not every item is a home run, though. Costco manager Christina Polovina says that the Kirkland Signature Chicken Bake is loaded with calories.

5. Electronics

Every day can feel like Black Friday when you walk the electronics aisles of Costco.

But if you dig deeper like research from Clark did, you'd find that you can find some items a lot cheaper on Amazon.

6. Grey Goose Vodka

Since Grey Goose and Kirkland Signature Vodka source from the same water, there have been rumors that they are the exact same.

While Grey Goose has debunked this, taste tests have proven that people prefer Kirkland vodka for the taste and cheaper price.

7. Linens

While the price of linens at Costco is great, the variety is not.

"If you want 20 colors, this isn't the place," Costco merchandise manager for bedding and home, Jim Klauer, told CBS News. You'd be better off at Wal-Mart or Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

The quality of Costco's linens is another issue.

Customer reviews for Kirkland Signature linens have said that the texture of the linens get "rough" after a wash.

Another said that the threads were thin and coming out.

8. Tires

Don't let Costco's cheap gas prices fool you — workers say that the chain shouldn't replace your mechanic.

"The tire selection is very low and you can usually get them quite a bit cheaper somewhere else if you shop around," one Redditor shared.

9. Vacations

You might be unaware that Costco can help you book your next dream vacation.

However, the words "dream vacation" are pretty loose since a previous worker said that the deals aren't that amazing. You'd be better off finding something spectacular somewhere else.
