The Internet Is Divided After Viral Video Shows Woman Rinsing Off Cooked Ground Beef

Look, I'm no Julia Child, but I do pride myself on knowing my way around a kitchen, even if that way is just to the wine rack. Even though I'm no expert, I still like to think I know about all the major cooking sins — don't use metal on non-stick pans, don't soak cast iron, and of course, don't rinse fully cooked meat.

However, this is now apparently up for debate as a TikTok of a woman washing her meat has gone viral.

I don't fancy myself a chef, but I do LOVE adding wine to recipes — even ones that don't call for it!

It's called improvisation, sweeties.

Plus, everyone knows adding a nice glug of Pinot Grigio to your pan instantly makes everything more elegant!

Sure, I've mistaken my table salt for sugar *several times* before. And sure, I burn half of the things I cook, but that's part of being human.

I can't be too perfect around my kids— my husband would just get jealous!

Despite not being a culinary expert, there are few things I know to be wrong when I see them, and rinsing off COOKED GROUND BEEF is one of them.

Growing up, my dad used to do this all the time, but as an adult, I'd never think to run my perfectly cooked meat under cold, running water.

It seems, so wrong to me!

I can't imagine what your pipes would look like after years of rinsing off meat grease.

I don't know why but I already feel sick just thinking about unclogging that sink.

All this effort, for what? Soggy meat?

Sure, you might be able to blast away some of the fat with water, but hello — grease is hydrophobic, which means you’ll never be able to get all of it off.

In addition to clogging your sink, you're also rinsing off any seasonings you may have cooked your meat in.

It's like people who pat down their pizza with a napkin to "soak up" all the grease.

Sure, it might make us feel more virtuous while inhaling a whole medium pizza by ourselves, but does it make it healthier?

I'm not convinced.

However, TikTok user Emily Harper is encouraging her followers to try rinsing their ground beef in a video that has since gone viral.

After cooking her ground beef, she comments on how much "disgusting" grease is in the pan.

She then proceeded to pour the cooked meat into a strainer... and... well...

RINSE IT OFF!

This all seems kind of wild because as we know — fat = flavour and I'm sorry but rinsed meat does not sound like it has either of those things.

The least she could have done is strained the grease into a bowl and allowed it to harden before throwing it in the trash.

You know, the responsible thing to do!

The end result is just a pan full of pale, rinsed beef.

I'd personally much prefer the before because this looks like some Taco Bell mystery meat nonsense.

What about you? Do you rinse your cooked ground beef?

If you do, do you have any hacks to keep it from clogging the drain?
