Henry Cavill Calls Out Trolls Spreading Rumors About His New Relationship

Although each celebrity out there can probably point to a large number of fans who are happy for them when they enter a new relationship, we also know that there's nothing quite like that sort of milestone to bring out the toxicity in their followings.

This can be seen as far back as the days of the Beatles but the feeling that their favorite star's new lover is somehow moving in on their territory or disrupting their perceptions of the object of their affection's "soul mate" is an unfortunately enduring one.

And it seems that Henry Cavill's newly revealed relationship with a television executive is bringing that unhealthy element within his fanbase out of the woodwork.

On May 16, Cavill posted a lengthy statement on Instagram intended to addess some "social animosity" among his followers.

Although he didn't get specific about the rumors people were starting, he aimed to call out the apparent fact that, "There has been lots of, let's call it speculation for now, about my private life and professional partnerships."

Given what would follow in this statement and the photo that accompanied it, at least some of the speculation seemed to concern 31-year-old Natalie Viscuso, a television executive whom People reported Cavill as dating since early April.

While Cavill said he appreciated the "passion" and support of those engaging in this speculation, he said that the fact that he now has to address it means it's gone too far.

As he put it, "So to you out there who are expressing your disdain and showing your displeasure through a surprising variety of ways, it's time to stop."

His caption accompanied the photo you see here.

Cavill also said that he understands how fun it can sometimes be to gossip among your "echo chamber" on the internet.

But in his words, "Your 'passion' is misplaced, and it causes harm to the people I care about most."

Again without getting specific about what they were, he also said that even the most moderate of negative assumptions about his personal and professional life that he has been seeing lately aren't true.

To conclude his statement, Cavill said, "I am very happy in love, and in life. I'd be enormously grateful if you were happy with me."

But if that's not a possibility for those engaging in the speculation he's talking about, he instead suggested that they try to "do [themselves] proud" and be the best versions of themselves.
