10+ Times Celebs Shared Their Controversial Parenting Methods And Weren't Afraid Of Backlash

There are many celebs in Hollywood who aren't afraid to stir the pot.

They share NSFW selfies, speak out on fro-yo (looking at you Demi), and get real when it comes to their controversial parenting methods.

At this point, it's like they're asking for backlash. Here are 10+ times celebs got controversial with parenting and refused to back down.

1. Kim Kardashian

No stranger to drama, Kim faced backlash when she posted a photo of her eldest daughter, North, with straightened hair.

"She wanted straight hair and I straightened her hair one time," she said, defending her actions to The Hollywood Reporter.

2. Amanda Stanton

The Bachelor alum has a long history of being mommy shamed online.

Things really escalated when the mom of two shared a selfie of her then-5½-year-old child, Charlie Emma, in a two-piece bathing suit. People soon found it inappropriate.

"Amanda I like you girl but this is a bit too much,” one Instagram follower commented.

“I don’t see how this isn’t teaching body positivity and confidence. If anything, I think it is!” Stanton commented back, defending herself.

3. Chrissy Teigen

If anyone knows about mommy shaming, it's Chrissy Teigen.

The always-outspoken star experienced this when she posted a clip of her daughter, Luna, with her toenails and fingernails painted a hot pink. “There she is,” Teigen wrote as soon as the criticism came rolling in.

4. Kim Zolciack-Biermann

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star is no stranger to criticism over her parenting.

In 2019, she shared a picture of then-five-year-old daughter, Kaia Rose, asking "where does the time go @kaiabiermann how are you 5 already?"

This grown up look didn't sit well with fans who shamed Kim for letting her daughter wear makeup at such a young age.

Zolciak-Biermann clapped back. "Sweetie it’s a tv screen color is off it’s not accurate but regardless just because you don’t doesn’t mean others won’t."

5. Khloé Kardashian

The reality star wasn't about to roll over for those who criticized her for "excessive spending" in 2019.

This was over her buying her daughter, True, a Bentley toy car. "Ummm you know this is not a real Bentley? It’s a toy," the Kardashian clapped back.

6. Mayim Bialik

The Big Bang Theory alum's parenting has been a source of controversy over the years.

A lot of the criticism had to do with her breastfeeding her son until he was four under the attachment principle of parenting.

Another controversial method is raising her two sons on a vegan diet.

Since she gets a lot of flack for it, she created a YouTube video to educate people.

"Children can thrive without eating meat and without eating dairy. The only thing that vegans can't get from the foods that we eat is vitamin B12," she said.

7. Alicia Silverstone

Mayim isn't the only celebrity to raise her children vegan. The Cluless star has been doing the same for years with her son, Bear.

She defended the decision by saying that it has improved her relationship with her son because he's nicer.

8. Kristen Bell And Dax Shepard

The couple stirred up controversy when they revealed that they lock their kids, Lincoln and Delta, inside their bedrooms at night.

They explained to Parents that this is because their youngest kept escaping to cause trouble. "We switched the doorknob. We turned the lock on the outside."

9. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

Nothing is off-limits in the Smith family.

In order to ensure their kids, Willow and Jaden, tell them everything (the good and the bad), the couple came up with an unorthodox approach called the circle of safety.

"They're allowed to tell us everything that they did [in the circle of safety], and they can't get in trouble," Smith told Jimmy Fallon in 2016.

There is one catch to this.

"The rule is, if we find out after the circle of safety that there was something you didn't say, there was [a price] to pay."

10. Pink

"At least twice a week on tour, we shut the door to the outside world and have family dinner,” the singer posted on Instagram in 2019.

But since she posted the picture on Instagram, one user decided to call her out.

"Except it's posted on ig," they wrote.

Pink didn't take kindly to this, as she clapped back.

“Yes I like to promote healthy stuff. I also like to remind people to stop being TOTAL D— BAGS TOO. Consider this your reminder, [expletive] off."

11. Christina Aguilera

The singer isn't afraid of her kids seeing naked women. She has many pieces of art in her home that display nude females.

“I think it’s important that he [her son] see mommy not be ashamed of her sexuality…” she once shared.

12. Jessica Simpson

The fashion designer drew controversy when she posted a video of her husband, Eric Johnson, flipping their son, Ace, in the pool.

Only thing is, her son had a broken arm at the time. “A broken bone doesn’t hold this kiddo down," she captioned the video.

13. Eva Mendes

The mom of two sparked a debate on spanking earlier this week when she shared her thoughts.

"Spanking does for a child’s development what hitting a spouse does for a marriage,” a picture in her post read.

While some agreed with Eva's thoughts on the matter, some wrote that spanking was beneficial to their upbringing.

“We all parent our own way, and I have no idea what I’m doing most the time," Eva responded.

"This didn’t come with a manual. So when there’s something that resonates with me, I pass it on. Lotsa love.”
