Fans Are Divided After Learning Kaley Cuoco Will Play Doris Day In Upcoming Series

While there are many parts of a celebrity's life that I believe are easy, there are also some things that I believe would be really, really difficult. I know, right? Just call me an empath!

Portraying an iconic actor is one of those things that I just wouldn't want to ever do, no matter how much I loved the actor I was playing. The pressure I would feel, especially if they were someone as beloved as Doris Day!

This criticism is what Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco is experiencing after it was announced that she would be playing the iconic blonde bombshell in an upcoming limited series.

Before we get started, I want to make it clear that I really like Kaley Cuoco! I believe she is beautiful, talented and so funny.

I obviously loved The Big Bang Theory and have even figured out how to downloaded HBO Max just to watch her on The Flight Attendent.

I even remember her from waaay back in the day on 8 Simple Rules with John Ritter!

However, it's no easy task to fill the shoes of a beloved icon, especially if that icon is Doris Day.

It's hard to believe the world lost Doris almost two years ago in May 2019 at the age of 97.

The actress, singer, and animal activist is regarded as one of the most quintessential Hollywood stars, best known for her career as a big band singer and star of the silver screen in films such as Pillow Talk and The Man Who Knew Too Much.

Now, fans will see these iconic Doris Day moments in a new limited series starring Kaley Cuoco.

According to Variety the actresses' Yes, Norman Productions will join forces with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television to develop the story of Doris Day as a limited series after securing the rights to A.E. Hotchner’s "Doris Day: Her Own Story."

For those who don't know, A.E wrote the 1976 biography based on a series of interviews with Doris, and it’s widely considered to be her autobiography.

The news has come with mixed reactions from fans of Doris *and* Kaley.

A lot of people began speculating if Kaley can sing on Twitter.

"Is she in voice classes, or will they be using clips of Doris singing? This isn't exactly a Que Sera, Sera kind of thing," tweeted one user.

"Doris Day deserves to be played by someone with talent," echoed another.

"Doris Day deserves better than the CW producers and Kaley Cuoco," tweeted a different Doris fan.

However, not everyone was so negative about the casting!

I believe everyone involved in the project will put their best effort in to make it a great tribute to the late, great Doris Day.
