'Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan Fires Back At Tweet Calling Her 'Fat' And Criticizing Her Style

I'd be lying if I said I never had a little snarky comment to make about a celebrity's red carpet fashion choice — it's a bit of a guilty pleasure that I think a lot of us indulge in.

But it's easy to take it too far and go from light criticism to insult, which is definitely not good, ESPECIALLY if the celebrity involved happens to see your tweet.

Nicola Coughlan is one of the break out stars of Netflix's smash hit *Bridgerton*.

The star, who plays Penelope Featherington on Bridgerton and Clare on Derry Girls has an impressive body of work under her belt!

However, not everyone was as impressed with her outfit that she wore for the Golden Globes ceremony.

Nicola wore a yellow dress with a black cardigan over top.

One person on Twitter didn't appreciate the styling choice, tweeting her criticism about the outfit worn by, in their words, "The fat girl from Bridgerton."

Nicola saw the tweet and replied with possibly the best response possible.

"I thought the cardigan looked ace," Nicola responded.

"Molly Goddard [the designer] used them on her runway with the dresses that's where the idea came from, also I have a name," she wrote.

We love to see celebrities standing up for themselves!

Nicola also then shared an article she had written in the past about not judging actresses based on their bodies.

What do you think about the drama? Was the person just making a benign tweet about fashion, or was Nicola right to correct them on not referring to her by name? Let us know how you feel in the comments below!
