Pat Sajak Facing Backlash For Making Fun Of A Contestant’s Speech Impediment

It has not been a good week for game shows!

First, this preschool teacher infuriated Finding Nemo fans by not knowing the color of the charcter Dory on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

And now, Pat Sajak, host of Wheel of Fortune, has fired up fans for making fun of a contestant's speech impediment.

Not a good look.

Pat Sajak, longtime host of *Wheel of Fortune*, has always been known for his sharp wit and dry humor.

But over the past several months, Sajak's behavior has been worrying some fans.

This all started when he snapped at a player in November, calling him "ungrateful."

This took place on the November 25 episode when contestant Darin McBain challenged a puzzle.

He had been tasked with coming up with words that started with the word "kitchen."

While he was able to correctly guess "cabinet," "towels," "oven," and "sink," it was "kitchen oven" that struck a nerve.

"Kitchen oven?" Darin asked the host, Pat.

"What was that? Who calls it a 'kitchen oven?'"

This was when Pat snapped. "Don't! You won! Don't argue, Darin! ... You got the puzzle. Ungrateful players! I've had it!”

The tense moment had some fans upset on Twitter, but not everyone.

It is definitely one of those moments that people will be talking about for a LONG time.

"Pat should be grateful that anyone still watches his tired, washed up old game show," one tweeted.

By the end of the episode, Pat apologized to the contestant.

"I'm sorry I yelled at you, Darin. I just don't remember your mother giving us trouble like that," he said.

He was referring to the fact that Darin's mother was a three-day champion on the show back in 1982.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the only tense incident involving Pat.

Back in December, he faced backlash for chastising a contestant who interrupted him a couple of times during the show.

One time in particular, the contestant, Sheryl Senet, interrupted a sponsor plug. “Never, never interrupt,” the host scolded. “Never interrupt a plug!”

While he followed this up with a laugh and a smile, fans on Twitter took notice of what seemed to be a trend of angry outbursts.

"Did Pat stop drinking caffeine this week or something? He’s had ZERO patience and I’m pretty sure he genuinely hates Sheryl. #WheelOfFortune," one wrote.

Now, the longtime host is coming under fire again, this time, for making fun of a contestant's speech impediment.

This happened on Monday's episode of the game show.

During the player introductions, contestant Chris Brimble spoke with a noticeable lisp while describing himself and his job.

But instead of replying, “I see,” Sajak mocked Brimble’s lisp by mimicking him and saying, “I thee.”

After the episode aired, viewers of the show took to Sajak's latest tweet to air out their grievances.

His unrelated tweet read:

“How nice for those who have lived such exemplary lives that they can express glee when others have their lives ruined by a mistake, real or perceived.”

The tweet, however, has since been deleted.

Some were calling him out, others were simply asking him to recognize his mistake.

Regardless, people were NOT happy with what had happened.

“Hopefully you learned by your mistake and stop making fun of those with a lisp,” one viewer responded.

“As a woman who has lived all her life with one (and my parents put me in speech classes when I was first going to school as a youngster)..."

"I find it appalling that you do that kind of crap," they continued.

"How nice for those not born with a cleft lip and palate and a permanent lisp," another wrote.

"I am glad you did not and do not know the 'teasing' that I have had to politely accept my whole life," they continued.

Some viewers even began boycotting the show until Pat makes a public apology.

"How in the world to spin allowing Pat Sajak to keep his job after that??????" wrote another Twitter user.

So far, the host has yet to comment on the situation.

We'll just have to wait and see whether he addresses it and apologizes.

So, now we want to hear from you.
