Every parent celebrates the start of the school year in their own, unique way. What's better to parents than having your kids get out of your hair after a long summer break?
Knowing your child will be accounted for five-six hours a day, five days a week — it's absolute bliss.
Some moms pop open some bottles of wine, other moms take themselves out shopping to celebrate.
Lisa DiNoto, Florida native and mom, chose to spend the entire day at Disney's Magic Kingdom to celebrate her freedom. She documented her whole day on her blog, The Castle Run.
“This is what you do after you drop your kids off on the first day of school. You get yourself a pin and you walk it around Magic Kingdom like some garden gnome on a world adventure.”
Lisa is so used to going to Disney with her kids and family, it was time for her to go by herself.
“After I grabbed the pin, I saw some of the Citizens of Main Street U.S.A. out and about and had the idea to have them hold the pin. They got such a kick out of it that I just kept going.”
"People are going to start stopping you and telling you that you are life goals. They will often be saddled with strollers and lots of tired children. Be gracious. Comfort them. Wish them a magical day…. and try not to skip away."
She said that everyone loved her idea and all the people she took photos of had huge smiles on their faces.
Let's face it — Florida is hot, especially in August. She said that the fun was great while it lasted but eventually, she had to go home to escape the heat.
One mom said: "LOVE THIS!!! My mama said this years ago "I NEED TIME FOR ME OR I CAN'T BE THERE FOR YOU!"
Another added: "Oh my word, the best thing ever!!! You are a total rockstar!!"
Alone time is so rare when you're a mom — why not do things you usually have to do with your entire family and cherish it solo?!
