Simon Cowell’s history when it comes to his fashion sense and overall look can be a confusing one. All the pieces individually are always good, but when they come together, the results can be a bit strange.
For example, we all love a bright white smile, right? Well, when Simon showed his off, people were a bit taken aback.

And so white . I don’t even want to think about how many white strips he had to use to achieve that look on his chompers.
This was Cowell’s first red carpet appearance since losing 20lbs on a new vegan diet.
So it could just be that his overall appearance has changed pretty dramatically, and we’re all just focusing on the teeth as one small part of the whole.
Simon’s said he thinks his vegan diet isn’t only healthy, but has improved his looks.
Speaking to The Sun earlier this year, he said, “I changed my diet and I’ve not looked back since. You feel better, you look better.”
“If I was on a one to ten scale of being handsome, I was an eight and now I’ve gone to an 11.”
“I cut out a lot of the stuff I shouldn’t have been eating and that was primarily meat, dairy, wheat, sugar — those were the four main things.”
“I noticed a massive difference in how I felt in about a week.”
“Once you get into a pattern I’ve found it quite enjoyable. It has helped me sleep and I wake up feeling less tired.”
“I have more energy and focus and it wasn’t difficult.”
“I don’t like to use the word diet because that’s the reason I never went on a diet before — the word diet makes me miserable.”

Which, honestly, isn’t the furthest comparison I’ve ever seen. Maybe it’s the fact that his smile isn’t quite reaching his eyes that makes it look so off.
Others put the picture through the FaceApp face filters themselves.
Honestly, old Simon Cowell is kind of handsome? Maybe this is a real long con game he’s trying to pull here. Forget middle age, he’s going RIGHT to hot grandpa.
Other people suggested something more robotic about his features.
Others still bypassed the robot route and went for the “wax figure” route, which would honestly explain the denture-like teeth.

Honestly, though, he may have gone a bit overboard with whitening.
