I think we've all been on the receiving end of gifts that, shall we say, missed the mark. Sure, it can be a disappointing experience, but that doesn't mean you can't be grateful to have received a gift at all.
Just in case anybody needed a reminder of what a real lack of gratitude looks like, here's a great example.
The man, whose name is known only as Akash, is the son of a wealthy landlord, according to the Deccan Herald. Akash apparently had his heart set on a new Jaguar for his birthday, but when his parents gave him a BMW instead, he responded by shoving the new luxury car into a river.
Police, who later investigated the matter, said that "Akash was unhappy with his father for not buying him Jaguar. He deliberately pushed luxury vehicle BMW into the river."
With onlookers watching from a nearby bridge, the car slowly started to sink into the river.
Some of the locals suspected that somebody might have been in the car, so they alerted authorities. A rescue operation was started, with team of men attempting to pull the car out of the river with a rope.
The BMW was later retrieved with the help of divers and a crane.
As the BBC reported, BMWs cost about $49,000 in the area, whereas Jaguars fetch about $60,000.
"After getting the matter examined, no legal case can be made out of it," an official said. The Deccan Herald also reported that Akash is under treatment for a "mentally disturbed" condition.
"I wanted to give my son a birthday present," he said, according to Fox News. "We could only afford to give him a BMW, while he kept insisting that he be given a Jaguar. He said the vehicle was too small but we thought he will be okay. We never imagined he would do anything like this."
