Dark. Gritty. Uh... Darkest.
These are the words that have so far been used to describe the upcoming Black Widow movie. My goodness... is Marvel going to do the unthinkable and pull... a DC?

After what seemed to be a very, very long battle, Avengers: Endgame has finally surpassed James Cameron's Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all time.
Kudos, Marvel, Kudos to you.
Marvel announced that in Phase 4, there will 10 new projects over the coming years.
10 new projects! That's like... at least five more years of Marvel. When will they stop?
Is the brand spanking new Black Widow movie.
It's going to be awesome and of course, will star every person's favorite female avenger, the one, the only, the legend herself...
No, I'm just kidding.
And if you're wondering who Deathcry is, just do a Google search for "the worst Avengers" and there will be a couple of articles featuring this lame superhero.
Yes, the badass spy from Russia who's adopted a Russian accent is finally, after all these years, getting her own Marvel movie.
And honestly, it's about freaking time, too!
There isn't much that we know about this project, however, we here at Diply are always at the forefront of journalism and are giving you, the fans, updates as frequently as quickly as possible.
So, let's get the obvious out of the way: Scarlett Johansson is going to reprise her iconic role as the butt-kicking super spy.
Luckily, Marvel hasn't decided to replace her yet.
She told Variety that she feels like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders, so clearly this movie has been in production for at least a little bit of time.
Not only did she say that there's going to be a lot of talking in the movie, but that she was at the perfect age to do it as well.
Apparently, the film is set to release on May 1, 2020, so honestly, it's not that far away!
Oh my goodness, you all must be so darn giddy!
One of our favorite people from Stranger Things, David Harbour, is also going to be in the movie as a character named Alexei/The Red Guardian.
In the comics, he is essentially the Soviet equivalent of Captain America.
Finally, the rest of the cast we know about is Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz who play Yelena, Mason, and Melina respectively.
No words on their character just yet.
There has been some concept art released of Black Widow fighting the Taskmaster, a villain who can copy and learn an opponent's moves in seconds.
Should be an interesting villain.
And finally, we have Cate Shortland directing this flick. She's directed movies like Berlin Syndrome, Lore and Somersault before.
Call me uncultured swine, but I just found out these movies existed.
Because there are a whole bunch of Marvel fans that are probably on the same boat as you if you are.
And don't worry, if Black Widow isn't your cup of tea, then there are a bunch of other movies in phase 4 too...
