Disney star, Cameron Boyce, 20, passed away last week in his sleep. Since then, his father has shared the last photo he took of Cameron — just hours before his death, on Instagram along with a heartbreaking caption.
A spokesperson representing his family delivered the sad news of his untimely death.
"It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron," they told ABC.
"The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him."
Cameron's family later revealed that the seizure that ended his life was a result of epilepsy — something he had been suffering from for a long time.
"We are still trying to navigate our way through this extremely heart-wrenching time, and continue to ask for privacy so that the family and all who knew and loved him can grieve his loss and make arrangements for his funeral — which in and of itself, is agonizing," the family said in another statement.
Dove Cameron, who worked alongside him on The Descendants shared an emotional video on Instagram — reading an open letter to his parents.
"But what was special about Cameron was who he was in the small moments when maybe no one was looking."
"The moments in between the big ones when he didn’t have to be good or kind, Cameron was always good and kind. He was selfless and generous. He was magnanimous."
"This ripped me up. I keep trying and I can’t make anything make sense. He was blameless, and relentlessly joyful; he was good."
"He couldn’t help himself but to always leave you smiling, or laughing, or dancing. So sincere."
"You’re alive in the legacy of love you built, and I will keep that light burning in me for the rest of my journey. The world was robbed. We’re better for you."
“Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around," he wrote.
They called Cameron “an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend.”
He shared the last photo he took of Cameron — which happened to be just hours before he passed away.
"I miss him terribly. I hope that no one ever has to feel the agony I’m feeling but no one is immune to tragedy."
"Thank you all for helping us through our worst possible situation."
