'Friends' Fans Noticed Just How Weird Ross And Monica's Relationship Got In The Show

Many of us have watched Friends so many times we can recite episode lines ourselves.

But there's one detail that escaped most of us until now.

And it's unpleasant.

Ah, sitcoms.

IMDb

There have been a lot of good ones over the years.

The War At Home, Cavemen, Harry & the Hendersons, 2 Broke Girls, The Great Indoors... and that's just a few of the best!

But one sitcom stands above them all.

IMDb

Yes, like the one ring before it, this show was the one show to rule them all.

But which show was it, you ask?

That show was 'Seinfeld'.

IMDb

I mean, if you're giving the one ring status to one show it's got to be that one.

However, there's one more comedy show that is on par with it.

And that show was (one more time)...

Netflix

Friends. There we go, now we're getting to the title.

And Friends ran for a heck of a long time, too. 10 seasons is not something to shake a stick at, that's for sure.

God, do they have devoted fans!

People who have memorized all the lines, the catchphrases, and people who make articles on the internet about all the tiny little mistakes they've made over the years.

Speaking of which...

Netflix

Now that they've put the entire series on Netflix, it's gotten so much easier to pick out little details and mistakes we missed when the show was on TV.

Now that we can stream it whenever we want, we can notice things we didn't notice before.

We can slow down, pause, rewind, and more.

It's a whole new game for Friends fans.

Which brings me to the point of this article.

People were going through a bunch of old episodes when they noticed this really weird, kind of disturbing detail about one of them.

Get ready to feel weird.

Cut to season 3.

Netflix

We start our journey at the season 3 finale, where all the friends are at a beach house.

In fact, the episode is called "The One At The Beach".

So they're all sitting around...

Netflix

Playing a game of strip Happy Days, which I thought was a show and not a game you could take your clothes off too.

Unless you watch Happy Days and strip.

Anyways...

So Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, Ross, and Rachel decide to gang up on Joey to make him take all his clothes off.

Take that Joey!

Netflix

They get him down to his boxer shorts, and everything is cool until Joey gets Monica to take off her jeans.

Sweet, I know.

Netflix

But here's the weird thing... notice who was also sitting at the table? That's right, her very own flesh and blood, her brother, Ross.

Uh... can you say gross?

Which means...

Netflix

He agreed to sit down and play a game of strip Happy Days with his sister. Which, in my professional opinion, is pretty weird.

This is why you're the worst character, Ross.

I guess Monica is no saint...

I mean, she must've agreed to play too.

So both the Gellars are either totally and completely unobservant, or a pair of strange pervs. You, the fans, must decide now.

But wait, there's more.

This isn't the only time that Ross and Monica have forgotten that they're brother and sister.

No, it seems that these two weirdos have a lot of awkward moments.

Like "The Geller Bowl".

Netflix

Alright, so you might just chalk this up to sibling rivalry and sure, I might believe you.

But don't tell me that there isn't a weird, kind of flirty nature to their rivalry.

Am I seeing things?

Netflix

Well, what about when Ross pulls down Monica's pants to distract her? Or that weird hump dance he does when he thinks he's going to win?

Explain that, Freud.

Monica's Diaphragm.

Netflix

Alright, so when Ross first starts dating Rachel, he spends a lot of time in their apartment much to the dismay of Monica.

At one point, he's hogging the phone...

And Monica demands for it back.

Netflix

Ross hands it over and says that it's her boyfriend Richard.

Immediately, she launches into a talk about her diaphragm... only to find it's her mother on the phone.

I get it...

Netflix

She's mad at Ross for taking up all of her phone time, but talking about your diaphragm in front of your brother is just downright weird, mad or not.

Monica's Tan.

Netflix

In the episode where Ross gets a tan, Monica comes into Central Perk with her brand spanking new tan.

Ross, obviously, ogles her for an inappropriate amount of time.

So Chandler calls him out.

Netflix

For not only staring at another man's wife but at his sister.

He plays it off like he was just checking out her tan.

I think it's decided...

Netflix

The two of them are a bunch of weird siblings, that's all that can be said about them.

There was something going on in New York during the '90s, and it wasn't pretty.
