Woman Totally Caught Off Guard In Hilarious Video Of Her Training Dog To Swim

We all know that classic TV show, America's Funniest Home Videos, right? Of course we do.

Even if you don't watch it now (yes, it's still on the air), you definitely did at one point. Who could resist an entire program dedicated to the funniest, most ridiculous moments ever captured on film? Its whole premise was basically people who went, "Thank God we got that on tape, now we might win some money!"

Nowadays, you may not exactly win money on a TV show for those kinds of videos, but you can at least go viral online.

One woman had her camera recording at the absolute best moment possible to catch something totally unexpected.

Posted to Twitter by her sister, Emma Stiers, the video shows the woman recording herself trying to teach Emma's dog to swim in the pool.

It starts off innocently enough, with the woman standing in the shallow end of the pool, ball in hand, encouraging the dog (dressed in an adorable doggy life jacket) to jump into the water.

The dog doesn't seem exactly too eager to follow the woman into the water, and he walks around the pool without getting too close.

The woman doesn't give up though.

"Come on," she says, much to the dog's delight as it wags its tail. "Come on!"

It gets pretty close to going in, too, braced with both its front paws on the pool steps. But then it stops, clearly hoping to get the ball from that vantage point. That's far enough, right?

As she continues to try and get the pooch to take the plunge, the woman happens to glance up and see something out of frame.

It's not immediately clear to us what she sees, although it's definitely nothing good, judging from the way her smile drops from her face as she exclaims, "Gilbert!"

As she rushes out of the pool, spewing a stream of expletives, she snatches up her phone and walks towards "Gilbert."

It isn't until she turns the camera towards the house that we finally get to see what exactly it is that has made her so mad, and also compelled her to stomp out of the pool in the first place.

As it turns out, "Gilbert" is a cat who had been watching its owner try and train that dog to swim from inside the house.

Perhaps the cat was unhappy with all the attention the dog was getting. Or maybe it just wanted a better view of the action.

Whatever the reason, this cat managed to get itself stuck up on the window frame of the patio door, striking what is quite possibly the most hilarious position ever while his owner reprimands him.

Unsurprisingly, the video has gone viral and racked up nearly 4 million views on Twitter.

The woman's sister, Emma, posted the video along with the caption, "So my sister tried taking a video of my dog learning to swim and-".

And of course the internet has the best reactions ever.

People all seem to agree that Gilbert was feeling pretty left out and jealous of the attention it wasn't getting.

Also, speaking as a middle child, I can confirm that this is definitely all kinds of "middle child energy."

Nothing says "LOOK AT ME" more than putting yourself in a ridiculous situation in the hopes of stealing the spotlight from your siblings. Or a dog.

A majority of users can't figure out how exactly Gilbert was able to get himself in that position in the first place.

I think we all deserve to know how he did it, because judging from the woman's angry response rather than surprise, it doesn't seem like this is the first time Gilbert has managed to do something like that.

One user decided the answer was simply that he's "Spider Cat" while another offered up a more practical explanation: "Cat is stuck between two doors. Open sliding door and closed door. Cat was trying to climb on the screen to find a way out."
