We Finally Have Answers To One Of The Biggest 'Sex And The City' Mysteries Ever

One of the easter egg mysteries that Sex And The City fans have been scratching their head over for years has finally been revealed by Sarah Jessica Parker, herself.

"Sex And The City's" Carrie Bradshaw, played by the one and only Sarah Jessica Parker, has been a bold fashion icon since the very first episode.

Her style confidence was infectious.

If you're ever hesitant to wear that bold colorful dress that's been sitting in your closet for ages, just know, Carrie would want you to wear it.

If ever you're struggling to pick out an outfit, just ask yourself "what would Carrie do?"

Works every time.

Anyway, if you dive into the eclectic archives of Carrie's most memorable looks, you may recall a certain shoe pairing from season three.

Episode 13, to be exact.

To this day, her shoes from that episode have remained a mystery.

Allow me to refresh your memory:

Carrie was strutting her way through Los Angeles wearing a pair of strappy Christian Louboutin heels.

What was so mind-boggling about her Christian Louboutin heels, you ask? They were mismatched.

She was wearing a different shoe on either foot. A metallic pink on her right foot and teal on her left.

And up until now, no one ever explained to us why she was wearing mismatched shoes.

To be fair, both shoes did match her dress.

But it was still bizarre.

Sarah Jessica Parker has finally come forward to put an end to our sleepless nights.

On Tuesday, the Instagram account "Every Outfit on Sex & the City" posted a photo of the famous Carrie Bradshaw outfit in question.

"THE MYSTERY OF THE MISMATCHED LOUBS," the account captioned the photo.

HBO

"Did Carrie buy these mismatched sandals straight off the rack? Or did she purchase two separate pairs and mix them together herself".

The account even suggested that maybe the shoes were a metaphor for Carrie's indecisiveness in her romantic life.

"Are they a metaphor for her inability to choose between Aidan and Big?"

"Unfortunately, we have no answers. But, we do maintain that this is one of her most compelling footwear moments on the series."

Luckily, for whatever reason, SJP felt compelled to finally give us an explanation.

She confirmed that the shoe choice was purposeful styling move.

"Here is the official answer and I'm sure approved by the great and legendary @patriciafield," she replied.

"We had two pairs of what I believe are @louboutinworld scrappy sandals. Pat and I chose to do one of each. "

She explained that the mismatched shoes also just so happened to suit the dress she was wearing in the episode.

"Perhaps because both were so delicious in color and seemed in harmony with the dress," she continued.

There was definitely something weirdly harmonious about wearing two different shoes.

"But also because we simply loved doing one of each. Sending my best. And hope this is a satisfactory answer."

So, basically, she wore mismatched shoes because she wanted to.

No metaphors.

No hidden agenda.

Well, there you have it, folks.

The true story behind the mismatched shoes was a bit underwhelming and anticlimactic to the theories I had lined up in my head.

But at least we know the truth!
