On June 25, Eric Trump was at an upscale cocktail bar in Chicago called the Aviary. He was dining in the lounge when a female server walked up to his group and allegedly spit right in his face.

Lara Trump Calls Eric Being Spit On The 'New Normal For The Left'
Police were called and the server was arrested by the U.S. Secret Service and Chicago Police.
However, Trump told them that he didn't want to press charges and she was released.
The Aviary placed her on leave while they investigate the details of the incident, but said, "What is certain is this: no customer should ever be spit upon."
The next day, Lara Trump, Eric's wife, appeared on Fox News' "The Story" with her thoughts on the incident.

She clarified that she wasn't there during the incident and thought that it was probably a good thing, since she wouldn't have reacted well.
"He played it so calm and so cool. He did not press charges against this woman which I think a lot of people would have done, but it probably would have been very hard for me to remain calm in that situation."
She said that she feels like such violent attacks are "the new normal for the left."

Eric Trump made a similar statement to Breitbart:
"For a party that preaches tolerance, this once again demonstrates they have very little civility. When somebody is sick enough to resort to spitting on someone, it just emphasizes a sickness and desperation and the fact that we’re winning."
