Sarah Hyland Reveals She Spent 4 Days In Hospital: 'I Was Feeling Like I Was Being Choked'

Sarah Hyland took to Instagram to reveal to her fans that she had spent the previous four days sick in the hospital, and the doctors could not figure out exactly what was wrong with her.

Sarah Hyland is a trooper.

She has undergone 16 surgeries in her life — two of which were kidney transplant surgeries.

Not to mention the countless medical complications in between.

Some time after her first kidney transplant, her body began to reject the new kidney.

“We did all of these tests and all of these treatments to try and save the kidney,” she explained.

But she said the doctors described her situation as "a house that's caught on fire".

“You can't un-burn a house," she said in a tell-all interview.

In 2017, Sarah went on dialysis, which is basically a machine that filters blood for you when your kidneys can’t.

It required having the device inserted under her skin on her chest.

“I called it my tube titty,” she said.

"I was really depressed. For a long time I was contemplating suicide," she revealed.

"I had gone through 26 years of always being a burden — of always having to be looked after, it's a really helpless feeling."

Later that year, Sarah discovered her brother's kidney was a match.

"When a second family member — someone you're supposed to look after," she explained.

"Like, a little brother, wants to give you a third chance at life,"

"It's scary because you don't want to fail them," she said.

Fortunately, her body hasn't rejected her new kidney.

She's been able to live a mostly normal life since then — barring some medical setbacks.

Recently, Sarah took to Instagram to inform her fans that she has recently been facing new medical complications.

Sarah revealed in an interview with Seventeen that she has struggled with chronic illnesses her entire life.

“I was born with so many health issues that doctors told my mother I would never have a normal life," she said.

In a video she posted on her Instagram story, she thanked all of her fans for the well-wishes they'd been sending her during her weekend-long stay at the hospital.

“Long story short, I went in because I was feeling like I was being choked from whatever’s in the house,” she said.

She explained that she was having a hard time breathing and was experiencing "chest pains."

“And then I was like, maybe it’s just a coincidence, maybe there’s something actually medically wrong with me," she went on.

"So I went to the ER after a very long day of work with lots of makeup on, and I just got home, from Friday night.”

She then revealed something even more disconcerting.

Apparently, the doctors had “no scientific explanation” as to what could be causing her breathing troubles.

“They ran multiple tests, multiple times, and there’s nothing physically wrong with me," she said.

"So... Wonder why I was there…,” she questioned — implying that something was definitely wrong.

I'm no doctor, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that if you feel like you're being "choked" from the inside out, there's probably some kind of explanation.

Whatever the case may be, here's wishing Sarah a very speedy recovery!

She's been through more than enough, at this point. So, hopefully, she's out of the woods for good!
