Geri Halliwell Finally Admitted Why She Left The Spice Girls

There are a few defining moments in one's childhood that shape us wee babies into the grown(ish) people we are today.

For me, one of those traumatic defining moments was when sweet Ginger spice Geri Halliwell left the Spice World and broke millions of hearts everywhere.

The Spice Girls gave us everything, all that joy could bring, THIS I SWEAR!

So when Geri left the group in 1998, she left Mel B, Emma, Victoria and Mel C to pick up the broken pieces of a shocked and confused fandom.

I know I'm one of the *many* Spice fans that would point to Geri's exit from the greatest girl group of all time as a traumatic experience.

It's like the main reasons I have trust issues today, so???

It was so massive that the BBC even made a call back to the devastating moment on their Twitter account last month.

#OTD 1998: MY WORLD ENDED.

What made it worse was that fans really didn't get much of an explanation from Geri as to why she was leaving.

In 2007, the Spice Girls documentary Giving You Everything finally gave fans a long awaited bit of insight to Geri's mental space at the time of her departure.

"I'd given all I could. I felt like I didn't belong anymore," she said.

"They didn't need me anymore, really, and I definitely felt very redundant. I kind of threw in the towel and gave up," she concluded

So when the Spice Girls announced their reunion last year, fans were thrilled to see Geri was fully on board and loving LIFE!

Of course, Victoria Beckham took a hard pass on the reunion tour but that's besides the point.

The girls embarked on a 13 show tour of the UK last month. Even Adele came to join in on the fun because QUEENS SUPPORTING QUEENS!

Their final three shows were sold out at Wembley Stadium with their final show taking place on June 16th.

Friendly reminder that the Wembley holds 90,000 PEOPLE!

Before the girls sang "Goodbye" last night, (the first single the band released without Geri) Geri took a moment to connect with the audience.

"Something occurred to me this afternoon" she started.

"I need to say something very, very important I should have said a long time ago."

"To Emma, to Melanie and to Melanie and to the fans is that— I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry I left."

The girls embraced in a loving and spicy group hug before Emma remarked "we forgive you!"

At this point, Geri gets emotional and the fans start going wild in support of their QUEEN.

"I was just being a brat and I want to say it's good to be back with the girls that I love and with you lot. Thank you!"

Mel C then calls "Goodbye" the silver lining in her departure.

Gerri agreed, calling it a "beautiful song."

Fans in the crowd and watching from home could feel the LOVE in this moment and just couldn't get enough!

Imagine having the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to do such a bold and brave thing?

We must protect her at all costs!

Ginger Spice will always be my childhood hero.

WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH GERI GIRL!

You can watch the whole emotional apology here and get into your Spice Girls feels as if it's 1998 all over again!

SPICE GIRLS FOREVER!
