These 'One Foot Taller' Periscope Glasses Help Short People See Over Tall People

No matter how much you're enjoying it, a good concert, music festival, or even parade can be ruined the moment some 6'5 giant decides to step in front of you. Suddenly, your perfect view of the entertainment has now been replaced with a much-too-perfect view of someone else's back.

If you're a short person, this is an all-too-common problem you face at just about every event you decide to attend. The world wasn't made for you, and those tall people are always getting in the way of your enjoyment.

But what if there was a way to sprout an extra foot of height and be able to see over them?

Well, beyond sporting a particularly high-heeled pair of shoes, this wasn't previously possible. But now, you can wear one of these new fancy periscope glasses and give yourself that extra height you need so you can finally see over every tall person who stands in your way.

London-based inventor Dominic Wilcox came up with what he's dubbed the 'One Foot Taller' glasses.

Essentially, this fancy facial-wear is designed to give users the perfect solution to all their short person problems. The smaller mirror at the bottom is angled at 45 degrees towards the one at the top which points outwards.

So, while you yourself aren't physically growing an extra foot, your eye level is.

Wilcox was challenged by Microsoft Surface to come up with "extraordinary solutions" for everyday problems.

He said he was inspired to create the glasses after witnessing a short woman's view at a concert be obstructed by the tall person in front of her.

"This gave me the idea to design a way for people to see over obstacles such as six-foot-plus people like me," he said.

He also said he gets his greatest thrills from inventing things.

“Some people get their thrills from bungee jumping or scoring a winning goal at Wembley, but I get mine from coming up with creative ideas," he said.

"Creativity is important because the world has many problems and challenges, and we need a lot more people with creative solutions to solve them."

If you were getting out your wallet to buy yourself a pair of these sharp looking glasses, you might be disappointed.

As of right now, they're currently not for sale anywhere and were only shown as part of the Extraordinary Solutions to everyday Problems exhibit at the D&AD Festival in London this year.

But perhaps someday soon you'll see them popping up on store shelves, ready to give the average person a bit of a boost at their next crowded event.

I'd only suggest grabbing a pair if you're willing to sport such an eye-catching facial accessory for an entire concert. I can't imagine they're too easy to dance with, but at least you'll be able to see everything.
