Mom Outraged After Teacher Writes ‘WTF Is This?’ On Child’s Homework

A Florida high school teacher has recently come under fire after a student's science homework assignment was returned to him with the comment "WTF is this?" written in red pen at the top of the paper, New York Post reported.

I'm sure there are a lot of things teachers think while grading students' papers, and I'm also sure they're not all positive or constructive in nature. But that doesn't mean they should pick up their pen and write those uncensored thoughts on the paper.

I'm sure there are a lot of things teachers think while grading students' papers.

And I'm also sure they're not all positive or constructive in nature. But that doesn't mean they should pick up their pen and write those uncensored thoughts on the paper.

The comment seems more like something Cameron Diaz would write on a paper in that 'Bad Teacher' movie.

In fact, I think she may have even possibly written that exact sentiment on a paper or two during the film. But Ms. Halsey isn't exactly the kind of teacher someone should ever aspire to be like.

Teachers have a certain responsibility to nurture students and encourage learning in their classrooms.

Even if they come across homework that basically gives off the impression this kid had no clue what was going on when they wrote it, the teacher is expected to offer the proper comments and steps to help that student get back on the right track.

However, there are those teachers who just get so fed up that they can't seem to bite their tongue anymore.

Or resist writing what they really thought of your work, because sometimes teachers can only take so much ridiculousness before they snap completely.

I think it's safe to say this teacher was right at their breaking point when they came across this paper.

The Rutherford High School science teacher returned a homework assignment to an unnamed student with her thoughts on his work written right there at the top so there was no confusion: "WTF is this?"

And just for good measure, she added, "absolutely no credit."

Just in case the student had any hopes left in him that maybe he might still score a passing grade.

Understandably, the student's mother was furious when he showed her the paper with the teacher's comments.

"I think for sure she needs to be reprimanded," Melinda Smith, the mother of the boy, told WJHG. "I believe that something should be placed in her file."

She's also demanding the teacher, whose name hasn't been released, apologize for her "inappropriate" comments.

"Just seeing 'WTF what is this', you know, basically...that was very inappropriate," Smith continued, "and not acceptable for a teacher whatsoever."

Rutherford High School officials say they are taking steps to discipline the woman behind the pen.

"Our HR has been involved and they're currently investigating the situation," school principal Coy Pilson told WJHG.

The teacher is reportedly "apologetic."

She is allegedly sorry about the comments she made and has acknowledged that she made a mistake.

It's unclear whether any further action will be taken against the teacher, beyond the stern talking-to she received.

Smith hopes to see the teacher properly punished for her word choice and said her anger isn't because her son didn't get the credit for the paper.

"It was more so the language...that was very inappropriate and not acceptable for a teacher whatsoever."
