Beth Chapman's Stepdaughter Fires Back Over Apparent Mother's Day Snub

Reality TV stars always seem to be in the headlines. I suppose that's part and parcel with living your life in the public eye, having your family's highs and lows play out in front of the nation.

Usually, at least on camera, you can control the drama with good and clever editing. But, when the cameras are off, sometimes the drama continues.

Family drama has been the cornerstone of TV for a long time, but seldom does it spill over into real life.

And as much as reality TV is all about the real-life drama, it's hard to imagine that Duane Chapman, aka Dog the Bounty Hunter, is happy with the way some drama is playing out in his family right now, on Twitter rather than on camera.

It all started when Dog's wife and co-star, Beth Chapman, called out her stepdaughter, Lyssa, on Twitter over an apparent Mother's Day snub.

Her anger palpable, Beth took her hurt over a lack of a Mother's Day message and apparently keeping her and Dog from attending her daughter Abbie's graduation and put it out on Twitter, tagging Lyssa in her tweet.

Many of Beth's fans reached out to her to express their sympathy.

But some also called her out for airing the family's issues so publicly. When one asked why she didn't keep the exchange private, Beth wrote "Because she doesn't answer my calls and has us blocked so I'm going to reach my child how I see fit."

However, it didn't take long for Lyssa to respond, and she wasn't as apologetic as you'd expect.

She didn't take her stepmom's accusations sitting down, either. She claimed Beth had overreacted and that, in fact, she had sent a Mother's Day message. And she had receipts.

For one thing, she could show, clearly, that Beth had not been blocked.

She posted a screenshot of a text exchange, with a Happy Mother's Day message on it, just to prove that no blocking had happened, and explained that she had a lot going on in her own life just at the moment.

Lyssa went on to try to smooth things over a bit.

Or at least show Beth that she had no hard feelings about the very public airing of dirty laundry, while suggesting that maybe they could talk about things privately.

But Beth wasn't about to be assuaged by Lyssa's messages.

She said that the Happy Mother's Day message was from her granddaughter, not from Lyssa, so it didn't count, and that she wanted to at least be invited to Abbie's graduation.

And that's where things stand right about now.

So here's hoping the two are able to patch things up as amicably as possible.
