Sophie Turner Opens Up About Breakup With Joe Jonas Prior To The Wedding: 'We Both Had Cold Feet'

As great of a couple as Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are, even they have experienced lows that made them rethink their entire relationship.

Sophie Turner recently revealed that before getting hitched, their relationship was on the rocks — but they were able to patch things up just in time.

Earlier this month, "Game Of Thrones" actress, Sophie Turner, and musician, Joe Jonas, tied the knot.

After the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, the pair sped off to Chapel L’Amour for their spontaneous, quicky-wedding ceremony.

Sophie and Joe handed invitations at the BMAs to just about anybody who would accept them.

So, as you can imagine, the turnout was a very random, unexpected, star-studded crowd.

The whole thing was live-streamed on Diplo's Instagram.

And country stars, Dan + Shay, played an acoustic version of their song "Speechless" as the bride walked down the aisle.

To make things even quirkier, the ceremony was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator.

Although the wedding was impromptu in comparison to most weddings that take months and months of planning — there was some planning involved.

Sophie and Joe decided a week before the BMAs that they would get married in Vegas that night.

They didn't take it that seriously, because they do also plan on having a much bigger, more luxurious, traditional, second wedding ceremony in Europe this summer.

While they are a seemingly flawless couple, there was a dark-side to their relationship going on behind the scenes, prior to the wedding, that none of the knew about.

Until now, that is.

Sophie spoke candidly in a recent interview with The Sunday Times, revealing that she and Joe briefly ended things after experiencing some turbulence in their relationship.

Sophie called it "the worst day" of their lives.

Thankfully, it only took them 24 hours to realize that breaking up was a terrible mistake.

"For a second we both had cold feet, then 24 hours later we were both, like, 'Never mind,'" Sophie said.

Sophie explained that Joe helped her get through one of the most troubling times in her life.

Due to being on public display at such a young age, Sophie was going through some severe mental-health-related issues.

"Having your adolescence being displayed in public, that's something I really wish hadn't happened," she said.

She pointed out that being filmed at the age of 13 — one of the most awkward and unsure times in a person's life took a toll on her.

Adding social media into the mix didn't help much either.

"Being in the age of social media when that's happening, I think I would be a much saner person if I hadn't been documented from 13 — your most awkward, uncomfortable, unsure-of-yourself years," she said.

Sophie revealed that she felt "desperately unhappy" when internet trolls would attack her appearance and acting abilities on social media.

She was forced to seek professional help after she said she "stopped having my period for a year" because of an eating disorder.

She thanks her now-husband for helping her get to a better place, mentally.

"He was, like, 'I can't be with you until you love yourself,'" Sophie explained.

"'I can't see you love me more than you love yourself.' That was something, him doing that. I think he kind of saved my life, in a way."

This gentle ultimatum pushed Sophie to get help and learn to take control of her mental illness.

All that to say, we are so glad that these two were able to work things out, get back together, and make a life long commitment to 'Jophie'.
