Bud Light Releases Limited Edition Rainbow Bottles To Celebrate Pride Month

June is Pride month—a celebration of love and acceptance culminating in parades across the country.

In recent years, the popularity of pride-related summer events has resulted in a lot of companies releasing lines of rainbow clad pride products.

Representation is important, but so is intent.

From national banks to fast food joints, everyone is seemingly buzzing with Pride fever come June.

However, it's unclear whether these companies are showing true support, or if they're just capitalizing off of the LGBTQ+ community.

It's no coincidence that people buy more rainbow products for Pride parades, and companies make more rainbow products during Pride to up their profits.

This year, Bud Light is releasing a line of rainbow bottles for Pride.

The beers will be available from May 27 to June 30, and are inspired by the rainbow Pride flag.

Words of encouragement and support for the LGBTQ+ community will replace the usual company story on the bottles.

Proceeds from bottle sales will go to GLAAD.

In their statement on May 3rd, the company revealed that they "will donate $1 to GLAAD for every bottle sold, up to $150,000 to assist in their efforts of creating a world where everyone can live the life they love."

Vice President of Marketing Andy Goeler released his own statement on the initiative:

Bud Light has been a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community since the 80s and we are excited to continue our long-standing partnership with GLAAD by collaborating with them on this new commemorative bottle that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and everything GLAAD does to support it.

They see their beer as something for "everyone to enjoy."

"We are looking forward to seeing Pride bottles at bars throughout the month of June and beyond," he continued, "With the release of these new bottles, we hope to create something that everyone can feel proud to hold during Pride month that also makes a positive impact for GLAAD's initiatives and the LGBTQ+ community overall."

The new bottles will be available at select locations.

You can snag the product at different bars or clubs in your area, and the bottles will also be served at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, and the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City.

Is it a thoughtful move or a money grab?

Bud Light's long standing relationship with GLAAD points to good intentions, though you never really know with companies like these.

Regardless, the more rainbow, the better!
