Here's Why You Should Expect To See Fashion That Breaks Gender Norms At This Year's Met Gala

The annual Met Gala red carpet is always unpredictable.

That's because celebrities pull out all the stops when it comes to creating their one-of-a-kind looks for the annual costumed gala, which benefits The Metropolitan Museum Of Art.

However, there have been a few clues from designers and celebrities that have us calling one trend to look out for: gender-defying fashion.

Designer Christian Siriano is known for creating voluptuous, bigger-than-life ballgowns.

His creations have been worn by countless celebrities on the red carpet, but the design that made him a household name was recently worn on the Oscars red carpet.

This custom tuxedo gown designed by Siriano and worn by Billy Porter quickly went viral.

The gender-bending fashion statement was praised by many online, and Billy was named to many Best Dressed lists.

With fashion's biggest event of the year coming up, Siriano has said to expect to see more men wearing his creations for this year's Met Gala.

Many people online also realized that this year's theme for the gala is "Camp: Notes on Fashion", meaning that gender non-conforming looks will likely be seen on the red carpet.

I mean, camp and breaking gender norms basically go hand-in-hand, right?

Now the only question is, which celebs can we expect to see rocking one of Siriano's designs?

Harry Styles is one of the co-hosts for this year's event.

Over the years, Harry's fashion has evolved from his One Direction days and he's been exploring a more flamboyant style lately. I could definitely see him pulling a daring look or rocking a dress at this year's Met Gala.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Jared Leto shows up in a look that plays with gender expectations.

Jared is confirmed as one of this year's attendees and has always had a fluid sense of style when it comes to his fashion choices. I am here for this bold floral tunic from a recent Gucci show.

Of course, gender-defying fashion isn't just for the guys.

Lady Gaga will be co-hosting the event with Harry, and she is also no stranger to playing with gender norms for her red carpet looks. Remember when she wore this beige Marc Jacobs suit to the annual Women in Hollywood celebration?

At any rate, we're calling designs that break gender norms THE trend to look out for at this year's Met Gala.
