People Are Dragging Jessie J For Calling Bisexuality 'A Phase' After Fake Screenshots Emerge

Recently, an old headline regarding Jessie J's sexuality has resurfaced. Twitter users are having a meltdown over it — criticizing Jessie's choice of words and accusing her of temporarily using bisexuality to her advantage.

For some reason, this headline from 2014 resurfaced on Twitter.

Jessie J supposedly referred to her sexually experimental years as "a phase", and it's raising a few eyebrows.

"I did talk about it, and I was open about it, and I do support being lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender - love who you want," Jessie said in the five year old interview.

"That's what I'm doing. I don't regret anything I ever said, but I never knew back then that whatever I said became a fact that I couldn't change," she continued.

"I'm just so bored of it, and that's kind of it – I want to stop talking about it completely now and find myself a husband."

When fans read the headline that they presumably missed in 2014, they were fuming.

Some fans think that thanks to Jessie J's comments about her sexuality being a choice, she is only reaffirming bigoted views.

"She can not only let her LGBT fans down, but also give bigoted media 'proof' that being gay is a choice. Well done," someone wrote.

This person thinks that her music career was also a "phase".

"'Jessie J Denies Being Bisexual, Says It Was A Phase' So was her career," someone tweeted.

Other fans only liked her while she identified as being bisexual — before calling it a "phase".

"I loved Jessie J when she was bisexual for 5 minutes," someone tweeted.

This person disputed the fact that Jessie described the ending of her "phase" as being more "grown up".

"Jessie J has 'grown up a LOT' and has decided she is no longer bisexual. Because that's childish," someone tweeted.

This person thinks that Jessie used bisexuality as a "trend" that she eventually got tired of.

"You likely used it as a trend and are now tired cos it didn't get you the level of attention you wanted," they tweeted.

They also compared Jessie to Ariana Grande, as she has recently opened up about her fluid sexuality as well.

Some people pointed out that this could be Jessie J's way of seizing the opportunity to make fans out of the LGBTQ community.

"Jessie J comes out as an opportunist ignorant who was just playing bisexual to seem more appealing to the LGBTQ community," one person wrote.

Others think that Jessie was simply seeking attention from the media any way she could get it.

"So, Jessie J has decided she's straight now, not bisexual. Flippin' attention-seeker. Why even tell the media this?!," someone wrote.

This person pointed out that Jessie J is supposed to perform at a pride event.

"The same Jessie J who used lgbt people to further her career and then dropped us when we stopped being useful," someone tweeted.

Another person wrote that this is the reason that being bisexual is considered "a joke".

"No wonder being bisexual is considered a joke," they wrote, adding "when Jessie J describes it as a 'phase'".

Things got even uglier when someone photoshopped this fake headline that began circulating on Twitter.

Even though this is probably the fakest looking headline the internet has ever seen, some people unfortunately still fell for it.

Someone even photoshopped this fake image and made it look like it was screenshot from Jessie J's Instagram story.

Twitter

"Nothing wrong with being bisexual I said it was a phase because I'm actually gender fluid so sometimes I'm gay and sometimes I'm lesbian but no Bi," the photo read.

But it was later revealed that this image was also fake.

Jessie J has yet to comment on any of this.

What do you think of Jessie's comment from 2014 about her sexuality being a phase? Is this something fans should be arguing about now, five years later?
