Fans Are Pissed After Ariel Winter Asked Them For Donations To Support Her Cousin

It's fair to assume that Ariel Winter probably makes more money than most of us — which is fantastic for her. We're all very proud.

For that very reason, it doesn't make much sense when she reaches out to fans asking them for money, right?

But she did, and people are not happy about it.

Yesterday, our sweet little Alex from "Modern Family", Ariel Winter, shared on social media that her cousin, Tino Tsutras, has been hospitalized.

He has Haemophilus Influenzae, a bacteria that can trigger several serious illnesses.

Ariel shared a GoFundMe campaign that is aiming to raise $19,000 that will go towards his medical expenses.

Along with the shared link, she wrote:

"This is my cousin Tino. If you can, please consider donating to his recovery fund. Anything helps. I love him so much"

Many fans tweeted their sympathies to Ariel, wishing her cousin a speedy recovery.

Initially, a lot of the responses Ariel was receiving were seemingly positive and kindhearted.

Subsequently, she tweeted three photos of her and her cousin.

She included the GoFundMe link below the photos, advertising it once more.

But instead of earning the compassion of her fans, they quickly turned on her.

The majority of her fans took offence that someone that is so wealthy is asking them to donate to her family.

This person pointed out that according to Forbes, Ariel makes $100,000 per episode of Modern Family.

Another person asked why she is asking fans to donate when she can solve the problem on her own much quicker.

"Ur so greedy," they wrote.

This fan sarcastically wrote that they love when people who are in the 1% ask others to donate to them.

"His 15k goal compared to what you make seems so small. Why not pick up the tab," they continued.

These fans pointed out that the money Ariel is asking everyone to donate is probably pocket change to her, or weekend-spending cash.

"People with gobs of money should not solicit donations for family members. It's gross and wildly out of touch," another person wrote.

This person shared Ariel's supposed net worth of $12 million.

They made the point that everyone has their own financial struggles they're dealing with.

Some fans were seriously angered by Ariel's request.

This person told her to pay the bill herself.

One person tweeted at Ariel asking her why she is asking her fans to donate when she could most likely cover the costs herself, easily.

But this tweet is particularly special because it's the one that Ariel directly responded to.

She responded in the most savage of ways.

When asked why Ariel isn't paying for her cousin's medical expenses herself, and instead, asking her fans to cover the cost, Ariel replied "what makes you think I'm not? Love the assumptions".

She followed up with a tweet, announcing to all of her fans that their negativity has been "hurtful".

"I'm shocked at how many people have sent me hate tweets about my cousin instead of a simple, kind message showing him some love and support," she wrote.

On that note, I am personally sending Ariel positive, supportive vibes — and hope that her cousin gets well soon!

Do you think it was appropriate for Ariel to ask her fans to help donate $15,000 to support her cousin's recovery?

Is the outrage from fans justified?
