Actress's Cut-Out Top Ignites Online Debate

I can't imagine what it must be like to live with attention deficit disorder in this world. The number of distractions and things competing for your attention these days is mind-boggling. How do you even focus on a task anymore?

Heck, even staying on topic for something as simple as a TV promo seems to be a challenge. Just look what happened to Natalie Morales!

Actress Natalie Morales isn't quite a household name just yet, but with her star on the rise, she found herself in the midst of a Twitter storm recently.

You might recognize Natalie as Lucy on Parks & Recreation or Anna on Santa Clarita Diet, among others — she's definitely up-and-coming.

Natalie is also often confused with a different Natalie Morales, who is an anchor on NBC's Today Show.

Which can't help with her name recognition. But Natalie is making some progress all the same, and she's finally heading up her own show, Abby's, about a woman who runs her own unlicensed backyard bar.

So, Natalie made an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyer to promote her show, but online, folks weren't talking about Abby's.

Instead, folks wanted to talk about what she was wearing.

Her eye-catching top in particular, which featured at cut-out portion right in the middle. It wasn't quite a Janet-Jackson-Super-Bowl-halftime-show situation, but comments were made all the same.

And the comments weren't terribly flattering, with many of the decidedly creepy variety.

"Psst, your blouse is undone," wrote one viewer on YouTube in one of the cleaner comments. "What happened to the center of Natalie Morales' shirt?" wrote another viewer on Twitter. "Did she get it caught on something coming out on stage?"

Others marveled at Seth's ability maintain his focus during the interview.

"I'm a woman and I couldn't even stop looking at them," wrote one viewer. "Thank you, Ms. Morales, but also you owe an apology to Seth for putting him through that."

"My goodness! Seth must be a Jedi in training," wrote another. "I would have lost focus the first blink of the eye and given in to the dark side."

Needless to say, Natalie wasn't terribly thrilled with all the comments about her shirt.

So she put a statement out on Twitter defending her wardrobe, saying "Apparently people are making a big deal out of cleavage like breasts haven't been around since the actual beginning of humankind. Get a life. It's a body part. A great one, but so are eyes and arms and fingers. I do not have time for your mommy issues, I got a show to promote."

So here's hoping that put the body shaming to rest.

After her statement, many folks online did come to Natalie's defense, and tried to steer the conversation back to her show. "You made that outfit yours!" wrote one person on Twitter. "I'm more obsessed with the entire outdoor studio audience thing and glad your show is trying something different than the usual 'bleachers + laugh track pipe'.
