The Queen's Former Aide Just Dissed Meghan Markle's NYC Baby Shower

As Meghan Markle's due date quickly approaches, people can't help but start wondering when the actual due date is, what gender she's having, and of course, what they'll name the baby!

And while most people consider a baby shower a normal part of the baby celebrations, not everyone is as excited about it as we are.

Ever since Meghan married Prince Harry last year, her trips back to North America have been extremely rare.

Which makes sense. She's been busy with her royal duties across the pond!

But people were thrilled to learn that not along ago, she visited New York City to attend a baby shower.

And while the UK might not be on board with this trend, it's very common in America.

The shower was thrown by some of her best friends.

Which means that there's a very good chance that Meghan didn't pay for any portion of the reportedly expensive shower.

And when you're friends with people like Serena Williams and Amal Clooney, I'm sure money was no problem.

According to sources, the shower was held at The Mark hotel, which apparently costs $75,000 a night.

But as we said, Meghan's friends apparently paid for the whole thing.

Still, not everyone was thrilled about Meghan's baby shower.

As a royal, it's generally a rule that you don't have a shower because you're already privileged enough to have access to everything you'd possibly ever need for a baby.

The Queen's former press spokesman, Dickie Arbiter, had a thing or two to say about the shower.

“Baby showers, it’s very much an American thing. We don’t do it here in the U.K. It was a bit over the top in terms of expense and the way she got there," he explained, reports US Weekly.

“Meghan is American and she does things the American way," he added.

And I mean, he's not wrong, but is anyone else picking up some snide in that "American way" comment orrrr?

As far as being privileged enough to not need gifts, it's still nice to celebrate a baby on the way with your closest friends.

And we're sure it won't be as easy for Meghan to travel to North America once the baby arrives, so celebrate away, Meghan!
