'Diana' Tops List Of Royal Baby Name Predictions, Among Others With More Subtle Family Ties

Everything about Meghan and Harry's relationship is pretty nontraditional in the eyes of the rest of the royal family. But is the name of their first child going to be?

Although Meghan has done a fabulous job of fitting in thus far, she hasn't always followed old-school royal protocols.

So the burning question here is, is she going to name her baby something traditional, or is she going to continue to go against the royal grain?

Let's look at the facts. Meghan is an American actress, who has been married before and isn't Anglican.

Three serious no-no's for prospective brides to join the family.

But it seems the rules don't apply to Meghan. So why start now?

Kate Middleton on the other hand, has checked off everything on the Queen's list, and hasn't done anything to rock the boat.

Kate and William named their children after the ancestors of the royal family: George Alexander Louis, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, and Louis Arthur Charles.

All names we definitely could have seen coming.

So, although Meghan and Harry are the wild-cards of the family, we thought we would take a few guesses at what their first child's name could be.

How hard can it be, amirite?

The only problem is, Meghan and Harry have chosen to keep the baby's gender a surprise — which will make guessing the name marginally more difficult.

People have literally been placing bets on what they think the gender of the baby will be.

It's kind of a big deal.

A wide range of guesses have been made so far.

Many obscure names have been thrown out there, like Marmaduke and Ursula.

But ultimately, we've got to play the odds.

The number one name people are betting on, if the baby is a girl, is Diana — the name of Harry's late mother.

This one definitely seems the most likely, for very valid reasons.

The second-place guess, if the baby is a girl, is Victoria — the name of Harry's great-great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.

Or Alice — the name of Harry's great grandmother.

Lots of great name choices if it's a baby girl.

Other girl names in the running are Elizabeth and Alexandra.

Elizabeth is the Queen's first name, and Alexandra is her middle name.

Both of these options seem highly plausible.

The name Sofia is also being considered by the public as an option.

Sofia isn't a name that is widely used in the royal family, but it is a highly popular American female name.

The last two girl-names that are in the running are Mary and Grace.

In the royal family legacy, the name Mary has come up plenty of times.

For example, Queen Elizabeth's sister's middle name is Mary. However, the name Grace has been seen much less.

The polls also have some great boy names picked out.

The two most likely male-names that fans are voting for are Arthur and James.

The name Arthur has been seen a lot in the royal family — it's Prince William's and Prince Louis' middle name.

James is the name of the 11th person in line to the throne, the son of the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Plenty of less likely names have been thrown out there that we shouldn't rule out yet!

After all, it's Meghan and Harry we're talking about here.

We should probably expect the unexpected.

Harriet, Cecelia, Mathilde and Patricia if it's a girl, and Henry, Spencer, Alexander and Edward if it's a boy.

All of these names are lovely, and although they aren't tradition per se, they definitely still seem like very suitable options.

What do you think Meghan and Harry are going to name their baby?
