Son Helps His Dad's Empty Donut Shop Sell Out With Viral Tweet

As far as many people can see, Twitter is just a place where people scream at each other and occasionally post witty barbs about the guy they just screamed at. And while it's hard to say there's no truth to that, that's not to say its community can't show a wholesome side sometimes.

There was that time Twitter came to the rescue during the awful attack at Ariana Grande's Manchester concert.

A friend tweeted out that her friend had attended the concert, but could not get ahold of her.

An hour later, after the tweet had picked up some traffic, a man tweeted that he was with her friend.

Nathan Lamb, 17, replied to the friend on twitter, "She's with us at our hotel."

There was also the time Twitter reunited two childhood besties who had been separated since 2006.

She shared this tweet in hopes of locating her friend.

Soon enough, she and her old best friend got in touch by the virality of the tweet.

This time, though, it wasn't a long lost friend, but a business in need of some help.

On Saturday, Twitter user @hibillyby posted a simple message that broke a lot of hearts.

His tweet included this photo, among others, and the caption, "My dad is sad cause no one is coming to his new donut shop."

And although it was hard to get a look at the inventory, it was difficult to understand why.

The donuts looked perfectly good and came in a wide array of colorful varieties that always make it tough to choose.

As long as it had a nice, solid double chocolate, I'd be into it.

And for those who aren't big on donuts, the shop also offered croissants and kolaches with sausages and cheese in them.

In case anyone on Twitter was interested, he also posted the shop's address and its business hours.

Support poured in for the ailing shop, with many users citing this photo of an empty grand opening as the one that hurt them the most.

Others who weren't as keen on sentimentality just wanted to reward the bold strategy of setting up a donut place right next to a dental office.

Although the shop was empty when @hibillyby posted his tweet, it certainly wasn't after people saw it.

By the next day, users posted shots and videos of the shop's sudden long lines as enthusiastic customers waited for their turn to try some baked delights.

And it turns out that those who turned up were not disappointed.

Reviews like this one said the donuts and kolaches were almost as worth the trip as putting a smile on the owner's face was.

Indeed, the son's public plea seemed to pay off as they ended up selling their entire supply of donuts and kolaches that day.

Not only did his tweet give his dad some new customers, but likely gave a lot of people in the area a new favorite snack spot.

Twitter itself even caught wind of this amazing feat, and paid the family donut shop a visit.

It's truly amazing just how much one message on the right platform can do for a business.
