13+ Celebrity Exes Who Were Forced To Work Together

Audiences love a good love story, especially when it transcends mediums. Whether these stars were playing on screen love interests or merely working together, they all wound up falling for each other and, well, none of it wound up working out.

So how do you handle having to go to work and see your ex everyday? These celebs had to figure that out the hard way.

1. Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco

Unless you've been living under a rock, you're probably familiar with CBS' seemingly eternal smash hit, The Big Bang Theory. Its stars (and on-screen love interests), Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco, who began dating during the show's early seasons.

The two wound up splitting after two years together in 2009. They're still on good terms, though, with Johnny posting a heartfelt message to Kaley on her wedding day. They still work together on screen.

2. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder


Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev met on the set of the CW series, The Vampire Diaries, where they quickly began dating. Their on screen counterparts, Elena and Damon, naturally followed suit.

After three years together, the couple called it quits—but were both still contracted to work on TVD.

Nina wound up leaving the show, but not to worry! The couple remain on good terms.

3. Blake Lively and Penn Badgley

Back before Blake Lively became #couplegoals with Ryan Reynolds, she was hooking up with her Gossip Girl co-star, Penn Badgley. The two were a couple on screen as Serena and Dan, who wound up marrying in the show.

Outside of the show, however, Blake and Penn couldn't make it work. That didn't mean things got ugly, though— the two handled the breakup like champs, hiding the breakup from the cast and crew and continuing on as professionals.


4. Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray

One Tree Hill skyrocketed stars Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray into the forefront of pop culture. The couple were together on screen as Brooke and Lucas--and off screen, they wound up getting married.

According to Sophia, the entire relationship wasn't one she enjoyed, and she felt their divorce was exploited by the show. Recently, Chad and Sophia came to blows on Twitter. Yikes.

5. Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz

Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz have a more unique story: they didn't exactly meet on set, but they sure wound up on one.

The two met at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, and began dating soon after.

The two split after three years. However, that didn't end their relationship--in fact, they landed on set together in 2011's Bad Teacher, where they played love interests!

The two are obviously still friends.

7. Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper

As Sky and Sophie in Mamma Mia, they captured the world with their whirlwind of a romance. Off screen, Amanda and Dominic found love with each other, too. They began dating while filming the film, and wound up staying together for three years.

Ten years after they first got together, Amanda and Dominic were reunited for Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! Dominic said, "It was a pleasant atmosphere. It was really interesting to see how different our lives are after 10 years. It is a long time and it was nice to spend time [with her]."

Things always happen quickly on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, but one particular piece of drama seemed to burn for ages and ages: the slow split of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick.

Jennifer Lopez met her future husband-to-be, Marc Anthony, in 1998. According to her, the first words he said to her were, "One day you're going to be my wife." And he was right.

After drifting apart for a few years, the two married in 2004. However, after two children and five years, they separated. That wasn't the end for them, however!

The two still work with one another, and even released an album together. Aw.

13. Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult
