16+ Unscripted Live TV Moments Celebs Didn't See Coming

Being in showbiz can be a bit stressful at times, especially when you're on live TV where anything can go wrong.

Sometimes things work out better than planned, but these celebs haven't been so fortunate.

1. Ariana Grande isn't known for her gracefulness.

And while walking the Billboard red carpet, she tripped and nearly fell over while approaching the interviewer.

Thankfully, she recovered quickly and made the whole thing look like she tripped on purpose.

2. Ariana Grande vs. the Victoria's Secret angel wings.

Ariana was performing at the 2014 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show when she had to quickly dodge Elsa Hosk's angel wings, which nearly knocked her over.

Also, I know that the show doesn't air live, but the photographic evidence is around forever and that's enough for me.

3. Poor Ari hasn't had it easy with live moments going a little awry.

During a Power 106 FM radio interview, she was asked if she had to use makeup or her phone one last time, what would she pick.

She instantly got sassy and questioned how ridiculous the question was. Instead of moving on, the hosts shouted, "Listen and learn, ladies!" to which Ariana replied with a sharp, "Boys, learn" and threw some serious side-eye.

We're sure she wasn't expecting the question, but she handled it like a queen.

4. Nicki Minaj isn't one to be messed with.

The 2015 VMAs got spicy after Nicki decided to call out Miley Cyrus.

After accepting an award, she turned to the camera and snarled, "And now, back to this [expletive] that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press the other day," MTV reported.

We're sure that Miley wasn't expecting to be called out on live television like that.

The interview in question featured Miley talking about Nicki.

"What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite," Miley had said.

It was awkward, but she played it off pretty well.

5. James Corden and Patrick Stewart had an unexpected spat for all to see.

James was hosting the Glamour awards when Patrick came up to accept an award. Instead, he took the opportunity to call James out, saying, "Don't stand at the back of the stage with your hands in your pockets, looking around as though you wished you were anywhere but here."

He went on to make fun of his belly, and honestly, it was awkward.

Even when Zoe Saldana went up to speak, you could see James and Patrick bickering in the background.

Patrick was trying to say something to James, but he held up his hand, not wanting to distract from Zoe's acceptance speech.

6. The very famous Kanye moment.

We all remember this moment, right?

Kanye ran up on stage and took the microphone from Taylor Swift and declared that Beyoncé had "one of the best videos of all time."

I remember watching this live and at first thinking it was staged. Turns out it definitely was NOT.

7. There was a brief moment when Taylor Swift thought that she won Album of the Year at the 2014 Grammys.

The announcer had started to say "Random Access Memories," but for a second, Taylor thought they were saying "Red," and made a shocked face, getting ready to celebrate.

If that were me I would have probably cried, so she handled it well, all things considered.

8. Sometimes, Taylor's facial reactions are on point.

Like the time she was asked if she was going home with lots of men tonight.

"I'm not going to walk home with any men tonight... I'm going to hang out with my friends, and then I go home to the cats," she told Entertainment Tonight.

9. Ashlee Simpson didn't see that lip-sync fail coming.

She appeared on SNL and was about to start singing her single, "Pieces of Me," when the music to the incorrect song began playing, along with her vocal track, revealing that she was clearly lip-syncing.

And queue the awkward hoedown dancing. Ashlee finally opened up about the fail this year.

Her response — over ten years later — proved that she was over the incident.

"It's something that happened to me and things in life happen to you and they make you stronger and they make you a better performer, a better person," she explained to E! News.

10. Drake and Rihanna's awkward hug was a live-TV moment nobody could forget.

YouTube | MTV

Time reported that basically, Drake presented Rihanna with the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs.

He poured his heart and soul out in a speech beforehand, and then went in for a kiss, but was quickly denied by RiRi.

They played it off pretty smoothly, but that doesn't mean we didn't cringe.

11. I'm 90% sure that Jennifer Lawrence didn't plan on falling while going to accept her first-ever Oscar.

She handled the trip with as much grace as you can at the Oscars, and it earned her a standing ovation, so that's something, right?

12. Rihanna was quick to shut down an intrusive reporter during a "Battleship" press conference.

ODE shared a clip of the interviewer asking Rihanna if she was happy in her private life, and hinted at a relationship between her and Ashton Kutcher.

"Wow, how disappointing was that question?" Rihanna responded, and asked for a new one.

13. Cara Delevingne wasn't expecting to be shut down by the "Good Day" news anchors.

While promoting her movie, Paper Towns, she gave the news anchors on Good Day some pretty sassy responses, in typical Cara fashion.

They were having none of it, and remarked that she seemed irritated and that they were going to let her go so that she could get a nap and a Red Bull.

Yiiiikes.

14. Jennifer Garner became a fire meme overnight.

She made a confused face while attending the 2018 Oscars, and people took it and ran.

Even Jennifer herself doesn't know why she made that face. "I can’t even look at it. I can’t. It’s too embarrassing," Entertainment Weekly reports.

15. Nicole Kidman found herself in a similar situation.

The internet couldn't help but notice her strange clap during the 2017 Oscars.

The Independent explained that Nicole had expensive rings on and didn't want to damage them.

16. Leonardo DiCaprio wasn't expecting to bump into Lady Gaga during the 2016 Golden Globes.

YouTube | Clevver News

He made a now-quite-famous face as Lady Gaga slightly bumped into Leo, although Vanity Fair revealed that the whole thing was unintentional.

"I just didn't know what was passing me, that's all!" Leo explained.

17. Rashida Jones had the best response after a reporter told her that she looked tan.

YouTube | Celebrity Interview Compilations

"You look like you've just come off, like, an island or something, you're very tan, very tropical," the reporter told Rashinda.

"I mean, you know, I'm ethnic," Rashida quipped back without hesitation, E! News reported.

18. Even when on live TV, Adele isn't afraid to admit when she messes up.

YouTube | motboltz

During a George Michael tribute at the 2017 Grammys, she stopped herself a few seconds into singing and asked to start again.

"I know it's live TV, I'm sorry [expletive], I can't do it again like last year," she says in the clip.

19. Kesha seriously embarrassed herself while Jerry Seinfeld was being interviewed on the red carpet.

YouTube | WTOP Radio

"I'm Kesha, I love you so much," she says to Jerry, who's in the middle of an interview with WTOP Radio.

"Oh, thanks," Seinfeld replies.

"Can I give you a hug?" she asks, and spreads her arms out for a hug.

"No thanks," Seinfeld says and holds a hand up to stop her.

"Please," she begs, and asks for "a little one."

"Yeah, no thanks," he says for the third time before Kesha finally gives up and walks away.

It was 10/10 cringe, I'll say that much.

20. Madonna's live TV fail was both awkward and painful.

While performing at the 2015 BRIT Awards, her dancers tugged at Madonna's cape, which was supposed to pull off. Instead, she was pulled down some stairs, and she landed on the ground pretty hard.

Thankfully, she got right back up and finished the song without missing much of a beat.

This is exactly why I will never show my face on live television, radio, or any sort of interview that could be broadcast to the world.

At the rate people are churning out memes these days, I don't think I could handle that fame.
