Ariana's Performance Was A Hot Mess But Twitter Loved it Anyway

Ariana recently debuted her new single-girl anthem, "thank u, next," on The Ellen Show.

It was iconic, so aesthetically pleasing, and emotional. With a tribute to The First Wives Club and a few stumbles, Ari won our hearts all over again.

Fortunately, Ari didn't do the performance alone.

She had the moral support of the beautiful vocalist/dancer/bestie duo Victoria Monet and Tayla Parx.

Ariana's performance aesthetic hearkened back to the ICONIC girl power movie "First Wives Club."

The performance was gorgeous to look at and even more captivating to watch.

Ari took a BIT of a tumble stepping off the chair she was dancing on while imitating Goldie Hawn in "First Wives Club."

But honestly, she rocked it and I'm obsessed.

It was clear our angel was a little shaken, though.

But are we surprised? As much of a JAM as "thank u, next" is, it's still hella emotional and inspired by heartbreak.

She carried on with the performance, even giggling a few times with her girls.

Ari is a performer and didn't let the blunder get her down.

But then she got teary-eyed :(

It was during the lyrics "One day I'll walk down the aisle, holding hands with my mama. I'll be thanking my dad, 'cause she grew from the drama."

SOO, I mean, we can't blame her.

She ended the performance with "First Wives Club" inspired moves and white coats.

Please see above gif for reference if you are uncultured and know not of this work.

I mean...it doesn't get more adorable than that, does it??

Also, someone please tell me how to look that good in a WHITE winter coat, tysm.

BUT WAIT, IT GETS EVEN MORE WILD.

Ari tried to LEAVE The Ellen Show through the exit door, like she could just leave Ellen on read like that.

Ellen was like "Ummmmm??"

It made for a really cute moment though, and honestly, everyone was screaming and living for it.

Bestie Victoria Monet took to Instagram to give her girl props.

I live for the support she has from her friends AND fellow performers.

Sounds like we've got a stan on our hands.

It was truly the performance to end all performances, which is why we love our queen!

This is literally the 2019 vibe.

It's truly wild that such tragic events have happened to Ari, and yet she still manages to come out stronger than ever.

Twitter absolutely loved the performance and all its imperfections.

We're all almost falling through life rn, amirite ladies?

I feel like one strong hug from Ellen could cure all of my life problems.

Ellen adores Ari, which means the whole world should adore Ari.

Ariana couldn't have picked a better talk show to perform on. Ellen is so good!!

Twitter | @arianagrande

Talk about performing for angels.

To top off an already amazing day, Ari gave EVERYONE IN THE AUDIENCE 2 TICKETS FOR HER LA SHOW!

Twitter | @EVERYTIMEARI

Truly a gift from the arms of a babe.

Manager Scooter Braun also gave a shutout to Ari.

It's wild how celebs strive for perfection when in reality we love them when they're RAW and REAL.

Ari also took the opportunity to pose and look gorgeous with her beautiful set.

Instagram | @arianagrande

The wedding reception-themed set was also an homage to First Wives Club.

This is a real mood, y'all.

Twitter | @arianagrande

I love that she really just called herself out like that! Don't sleep on her humor, y'all. Our girl is funny!

And clearly, she didn't let her little slip up get her down — and she shouldn't!

Instagram | @arianagrande

She's been posting fire instas since the performance and we're obviously living for it.

"thank u, next" has not only made girl power history, but Spotify history too (in under a week, I may add).

WE STAN A RECORD BREAKING QUEEN!

Ariana was also just announced as Billboard's 2018 Woman of the Year.

To which everyone in the world nodded in agreement.

And just a few days after that, Ari broke yet ANOTHER record.

Instagram | @arianagrande

FASTEST SONG IN HISTORY TO REACH THIS MILESTONE. ARI HAS BEEN TOUCHED BY GOLD!

We also learned more about the song, which we obvs NEEDED TO KNOW.

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

"One day I'll walk down the aisle, holdin' hands with my mama/I'll be thanking my dad, 'cause she grew from the drama"

Ari has also shared texts from her friends that further prove my theory that "thank u, next" should be the new national anthem.

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

Places hand on heart

Like any good and significant *MOMENT* in history, the song has been meme'd.

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

Ari posted this one.

It was, of course, a reference to the final shot of "First Wives Club."

Have you ever seen a more iconic exit?

Me neither.

EVEN RIRI got involved in the joke.

Twitter | @fentybeauty

Fenty Beauty made a meme that spoke to the souls of us makeup junkies.

I literally just got traumatized from this!!!

Twitter | @brihunna

The number of EMPTY ARROWS I've seen in my days on Snapchat...THANK U, NEXT, AMIRITE?!

I've never seen something speak to my soul like dis. Why's the face mask game gotta play us so dirty?!

Twitter | @larapadawan

You know who doesn't play us dirty?

Ari.

Hey Siri, play "thank u, next."

Ariana has defied the odds and turned her heartbreak into history. Can't wait to see what bae cooks up next!
