It may be easy to get bored in this world, but the upside to this is that it’s just as easy to find something interesting.
Generally, these objects of our interest tend toward the bizarre and we’re left with deeply uncomfortable questions about ourselves and other people when we see enough of them.
It doesn’t always have to be that way, however. Sometimes, something might seem hard to comprehend at first, but more gently pique our curiosity when we realize what we’re looking at.
You might wonder how this guy could be so comfortable with all these ants on him, but it turns out that’s not the right question.

What actually happened is that ants infested this instant camera and somehow managed to imprint themselves onto an unrelated photo without getting squished.
So the real question is how that even happened.
These two objects are the same tool. They just come in vastly different sizes.

These are Allen keys (or Allen wrenches) used to fasten bolts or screws with hexagonal sockets, but those bolts can obviously come in a wide variety of different sizes.
Rare as it may be, it’s not impossible to need an Allen key that’s the size of a needle and one that’s the size of a crowbar.
After this turtle was hit by a car, it was taken to the vet. When that vet did some X-rays, they discovered a pleasant surprise.

If those masses inside the turtle seem egg-shaped, that’s not a coincidence. It means the turtle is about to be a mama.
This coffee shop in Seattle encourages customers to pin where they’re from on this map and it’s easy to see who likes it the most.

Not only have they had customers from absolutely every corner of the U.S., but they’ve also attracted some staggering popularity from Europeans.
Presumably, there aren’t so many from Asia or Australia because that would otherwise seem worth showing.
These shoes came from a house dating back to the 1840s, which may provide a clue as to why somebody hid them here.

As history professor Malcolm Gaskill told the BBC , it wasn’t uncommon for people during the 19th century to hide shoes in their house as a way of fending off demons, ghosts, witches, and other monsters.
Presumably, the fact that shoes mold to shape of the wearer’s foot meant that they were a font for their “spirit” or “essence.”
It’s a little hard to tell, but this driveway has a big ol’ collection of shrimp laying around on it.

This is supposed to dry them out and people who do this usually use a tin roof for this purpose, but whoever was responsible for this batch apparently had to make do with some pavement.
This is probably the safest way to watch a volcano erupt.

Specifically, we’re looking at a massive eruption on the uninhabited island of Raikoke thanks to a shot taken from the International Space Station.
We’re not looking at the results of a devastating flood. This area looks like this all the time.

These oddly long and thin islands are found in Scheendijk, The Netherlands and those houses are apparently popular (and very difficult to obtain) vacation homes.
So there’s some good news and bad news about this skin-crawling picture.

The bad news is that this is how big some centipedes can get in Hawaii, but the good news is that if you come across this, it won’t start moving.
That’s because it’s actually the layer that the centipede left behind during molting season.
This person didn’t hollow out this plant because that’s how it started out.

Although not a sunflower, it is apparently a member of the sunflower family and it’s known for attracting butterflies.
It’s also supposed to be edible, but don’t quote me on that.
For some reason, somebody decided to decorate this shower floor with rocks.

Apparently, they’re not so bad to walk on around the flatter areas, but enough of them can cut into your feet that it’s hard to imagine why somebody did this.
Thanks to this man, diabetics have more options than just injecting their insulin several times a day.

This is Dr. Arnold Kadish and he invented the first insulin pump in the early 1960s.
Fortunately, other developers have figured out a way to prevent users from lugging a backpack-sized version around in the years since. Most insulin pumps can be held in one hand now.
Many of us are familiar with fossils of dinosaurs, but it’s not often that we actually get to see their footprints.

However, that’s exactly what’s featured in this roped-off area in France. The fact that they’re so close together is a clue that these prints belonged to a four-legged sauropod.
These unusual creatures are known as mudskippers and there’s a reason they’re so excited right now.

Apparently, the photographer happened to catch them during mating season because one of them (presumably the louder of the two) is trying to attract the other.
Believe it or not, these bottles came from the exact same product line.

The only difference is that the one on the left was put in the freezer overnight and the resulting pressure changed the bottle’s whole shape.
This person’s just very lucky it didn’t explode completely.
There are so many beautiful things happening in this sky that it’s honestly hard to keep track of them.

Fortunately, the bigger ones are color-coded for our convenience because there’s a sunset happening in the middle, an intense lightning storm happening to the left, and an aurora going on above both of them.
This art gallery features some strikingly stylistic art, but the kicker is that the artist is legally blind.

More specifically, the artist has about 10% to 15% of his vision in one eye and none whatsoever in the other.
That said, one technique he’s known to use is to paint in total darkness. On other occasions, he’ll get as close a look as possible at his canvas.
Apparently, dropping this watermelon revealed an odd tongue shape inside.

It’s hard to tell what exactly made this striking difference occur, but at least there don’t seem to be any seeds in that part.
It’s almost hard to make out what’s going on here until you look at the edges.

That’s right, this is not only a circular rainbow, but one that’s surrounding where the sun is in the sky from our perspective.
It would be very tempting to stare, even though we’re not supposed to.
Without the context of the first picture, we’d probably think we were just looking at photos of a woman.

However, artist Leng Jun has managed to paint such a detailed, realistic picture of her that it’s almost indistinguishable from a real person.
This family photo from 1972 could’ve only belonged to an astronaut.

And indeed, astronaut Charles Duke left it on the moon to commemorate his voyage on April 20 of that year.
He also wrote that he and his family are from Earth on the back, in case anyone who isn’t found it.
These bizarre stone columns in Crowley Lake, California weren’t chiseled into this shape by humans.

According to Atlas Obscura , a massive volcanic eruption 767,000 years ago sent lava flowing over recently fallen ask, which baked it into unusually-shaped rock.
Add thousands of years of erosion, and you have the monument’s current look.
This baby looks pretty uncomfortable, but what’s happening here is likely for their own good.

That’s because this device is used to take a baby’s x-rays. The little champ is honestly handling it pretty well, all things considered.
This frog may be freezing up in this picture, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead.

Even in this kind of exposure, the hearts of some tree frogs allow them to sleep through the winter and reawaken in the spring like nothing happened.
It case it wasn’t obvious, this cat isn’t really in the mood for a walk right now.

There are indoor cats and outdoor cats, but it’s apparently possible for an indoor one to get so used to being inside that they immediately want to retreat back in when they leave.
There used to be a whole island here, but now, there isn’t even what you see here.

This was the last house standing on Holland Island in the Chesapeake Bay after decades of erosion by the sea.
This house finally went under in 2010, but the good news is that the island hadn’t had anyone living on it since 1922.
Hermit crabs will move over to anything that better serves their purposes, and this shows how serious they are about it.

Many of us would have some reservations about living in a skull, but the crab is only thinking about how hard and sturdy the bone its made from is.
Usually, ice sculptures at parties take the from of dancers, angels, or majestic dolphins, but one artist had something else in mind.

In case you can’t make it what this is supposed to be, it’s the likeness of Optimus Prime from the Transformers series.
This sculpture of a bent spoon wasn’t put in front of this building by its owners, and there’s a special reason for that.

According to USA Today , artist Domenic Esposito and art gallery owner Fernando Alvarez left the statue depicting a heroin spoon in front of Perdue Pharmaceuticals’ headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.
They did this to express the opinion that the Oxycontin manufacturer was responsible for fueling the nation’s opioid crisis.
Were it not for these stray surviving words, it would be hard to even recognize this as a book.

However, that’s just the kind of damage that termites can do when they get hungry.
It isn’t immediately clear what we’re even looking at here, but if you think they look like fingers, you’re right.

Specifically, they’re the preserved index finger, thumb, and tooth of famed astronomy pioneer Galileo.
This “firefall” in Yosemite, California is really just water that caught the reflection of a sunset.

However, it isn’t totally impossible for the region to have actual firefalls as embers used to spill from the Yosemite national park’s glacier point and made the waterfall glow.
This person lost the top part of their thumb in an accident, but it seems that nobody informed their thumbnail of this fact.

And so, it continues to grow from the middle of the remaining thumb although it’s unclear what purpose it actually serves in this case.
This seems like an average photo of a hawk until you notice what’s going on at bottom right.

Even then, it may seem like some kind of tiny snake is trying to attack it. In actuality, that’s just what a stream of bird poop looks like when it’s photographed in mid-air.
