A large portion of how we enjoy our food is through our eyes. A meal may be the greatest tasting thing ever invented, but if it’s the color of mud, we’re not gonna want to try it.
We don’t all have a singing candelabra to tell us the grey stuff is delicious.
So we need our food to look good as well as taste good, and with these 16 examples, you may find your mouth watering more than a little.
1. Look at this scoop of whey butter.
The perfect gloss, the complete lack of blemishes, the even color. It would hurt a little to spread it on anything, but the hurt would be worth it.
2. Speaking of perfect scoops, here’s some peanut butter.
This one isn’t quite as perfect as the whey butter, since there’s a ripple near the edge, but it’s okay — it’s our flaws that make us beautiful.
3. Face it, you now require a perfect rainbow of gummy bears in your life.
You would also have to eat it evenly, layer by layer, to preserve the symmetry.
Or at least, I would.
4. Behold the wonder of modern technology in an endless loop of ice cream sandwiches being made.
Now while you’re mesmerized by its wonderfulness, I’m just going to slip away to check the freezer for an ice cream sandwich of my own.
5. Boring orange carrots are boring, yo.
True or not, the story goes that orange carrots were cultivated by the Dutch as a tribute to William of Orange. When the House of Orange was ousted, the color became scandalous.
Before then, they were white, yellow, or purple. See? You learned something today.
6. Now, there’s some contention about what this image is specifically of.
The original user describes it as what a peeled pomegranate looks like, but some of the comments agree that it’s more likely a pomegranate seed-covered cheese ball.
Both look and sound delicious.
7. When you open a new jar of Nutella and the top is perfectly smooth.
It’s so hard to bring yourself to stick a spoon in there…but you do. It’s a sacrifice we all must make sometimes.
8. The most complicated and beautiful ravioli I’ve ever seen.
These definitely need to just be fried in a little oil and served. Any kind of sauce would ruin the effect of the patterned pasta that probably took hours to achieve.
9. That perfect bite is incoming.
You know the one. Usually near the center of the sandwich, it’s an even combination of each ingredient and the fluffy bread, with no crust to ruin it.
10. I’ve seen, and piped, a lot of buttercream rosettes in my life, but these take the cake.
I think it’s the beautiful burgundy color mixed with the even air bubbles that tell you that the frosting is going to be so fluffy.
11. This is a Jelly Belly factory before the jellybeans are mixed.
Clearly, this is what heaven looks like.
Assuming they’re the regular flavors and not the Harry Potter ones. Heaven should not include booger-flavored candy.
12. An almost perfect twirl of soft serve.
Yes, this cone is leaning ever so slightly, but after spending my high school years working at McDonald’s, I can tell you that it’s harder than it looks. This is practically perfection.
13. This Milky Way bar has its ratios on point.
Just slightly more chocolate-malt nougat than caramel and the perfect amount of chocolate shell.
Fun fact : Milky Way bars only contain caramel in the USA.
14. This avocado is so precisely cut that it looks pixelated.
While pretty to look at, it’s probably more practical than it looks. By so thoroughly slicing it, the avocado probably spreads on toast like a dream.
15. Anyone for a little fresh mozzarella cheese?
I am in awe of this lovely ball of mozzarella. I have never managed to make mine nearly so perfect and smooth.
16. Glass gem corn may be the prettiest food on the planet.
Just look at it! All those colors and the iridescent shine on every kernel. They’re beautiful!
Unfortunately, it sounds like the corn is too hard to eat off the cob and is most commonly ground up into cornmeal.
