Britney Spears' Boyfriend Speaks Out Against Her Father 'Trying To Control' Her Life

With the release of the New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears, which documents her life from the beginnings of her career up to and including the conservatorship she is currently under that is controlled by her father, Jamie Spears, there has been a reignited interest in the #FreeBritney movement.

Britney's boyfriend Sam Asghari has now spoken out.

Britney Spears has been under a conservatorship helmed by her father, Jamie, for 12 years until he stepped down due to health concerns in 2019.

This conservatorship means that Britney was declared unfit to care for herself or manage her own finances, and rather those responsibilities fall to her father.

In recent years, a number of Britney's fans have felt she is being taken advantage of and have began using the hashtag #FreeBritney to show their support for her.

Interest in Britney's situation has risen since the release of the *Framing Britney Spears* documentary.

Many people, fans of Britney and celebrities alike, have taken to social media to express their desire for Britney to regain control over her life.

Britney's boyfriend since 2016, Sam Asghari, has now spoken out about how he feels about the situation in a fiery Instagram post.

"Now it's important to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles in our way," Sam shared to his Instagram story.

"In my opinion, Jamie is a total [expletive]," he went on. "I won't be going into details because I've always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn't come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom."

Fans have been taking to social media to express their gratitude for Sam's message.
