Dolly Parton Turned Down The Presidential Medal Of Freedom Twice From Donald Trump

In my opinion, Dolly Parton should win pretty much every award possible for humans to win — Grammys, Emmys, Oscars, Nobel Peace Prizes, you name it. Not only is she a fantastic musician, actress, and songwriter, but she's also incredibly kind and charitable too! Her Imagination Library has made a huge difference when it comes to literacy for children, AND she helped fund the coronavirus vaccine — what more does it take to get Dolly a medal around here?!

Many people think Dolly Parton deserves the Presidential Medal Of Freedom for all she's done for the world.

The award is made to recognize people who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors," which seems to be pretty fitting for Dolly, if you ask me!

It turns out that former President Donald Trump had tried to award Dolly the medal — twice!

“I couldn’t accept it because my husband was ill,” Dolly revealed of the first time she was offered the honor during President Trump's turn. "Then they asked me again about it and I wouldn't travel because of the COVID."

We love that Dolly was being responsible and cautious with her health!

Does this mean a Medal of Freedom is in her future from President Joe Biden?

“Now I feel like if I take it, I’ll be doing politics, so I’m not sure," Dolly responded. "I don't work for those awards," she went on.

"It’d be nice but I’m not sure that I even deserve it."

"But it’s a nice compliment for people to think that I might deserve it.”

Classic Dolly — we should've guessed she'd be humble about this too! Do you think Dolly should accept the Medal of Freedom? Let us know in the comments below!
