Concerned Man Pays $400 In Vet Bills To Learn His Limping Dog Was Just Copying Him

For most pet owners, the second they suspect there's something wrong with their beloved fur baby is the same second they start doing anything and everything they can to help, even if that means some pretty costly trips to the vet.

Indeed, pet ownership isn't cheap, but that's just the price we pay to keep our four-legged friends happy and healthy.

But in rare cases, that "issue" we thought was plaguing them wasn't an issue at all, and we didn't actually find that out until after after we'd opened up our wallets at the vet.

For one UK pet owner, that was exactly what happened when he noticed his dog had started exhibiting a concerning limp.

Russell Jones recently shared a video to Facebook in which he captured his loyal doggy, Bill, limping alongside him as the pair made their way down the street.

Here's the thing: that limp wasn't born out of injury, but rather out of sympathy.

Russell, who is a lurcher from London, recently suffered an injury which left his leg in a plaster cast.

Ever since he's had only limited use of that leg, he's noticed that little Bill had also started walking with a limp as well. Worried that something had happened to the pup's limb, Russell set out to get some answers and wound up spending a pretty penny at the vet to do so.

But as it turns out, there wasn't anything wrong with Bill at all, unless you count having an unbelievably big heart.

In Russell's Facebook video, while he walks with the use of his elbow crutches, Bill follows his lead, and appears to be lifting his own front paw in order to copy his owner's noticeable limp.

"Cost me £300 (about $400 USD) in vet fees and X-rays, nothing wrong just sympathy," Russell captioned the sweet clip. "Love him."

Yup, after all that money was spent trying to figure out what was causing his dog to limp, he discovered there was absolutely nothing wrong with Bill at all.

Thankfully, Russell was able to find the humor, and of course the heartwarming side of this little misunderstanding. Bill didn't start faking the limp to empty his owner's pockets — he did it to make him feel like he wasn't alone.

That video Russell posted to Facebook has since gone viral, amassing over 35,000 shares and nearly 20,000 reactions from delighted users.

One person summed up our feelings perfectly in their comment: "He’s copying you. That’s brilliant! Though you have my sympathy for the vets bill."
