'Mr. Bean' Actor Rowan Atkinson Says Cancel Culture Is Like A 'Medieval Mob'

Rowan Atkinson, best known for his work as the beloved character Mr. Bean, is the latest comedian to take a stand against cancel culture in a new interview with the U.K.'s Radio Times.

In case you missed it, attacking cancel culture is the latest trend amongst middle-aged comedians, who are all too eager to take a stand against the "overly sensitive" Millenials.

In case you've ever wondered to yourself *what does Mr. Bean think about cancel culture?* I am here to answer that question.

As it turns out, he has some pretty harsh opinions about it, and a lot of people aren't super impressed with his hot take.

"The problem we have online is that an algorithm decides what we want to see, which ends up creating a simplistic, binary view of society

He continued, "It becomes a case of either you’re with us or against us. And if you’re against us, you deserve to be 'cancelled'."

"It’s important that we’re exposed to a wide spectrum of opinion, but what we have now is the digital equivalent of the medieval mob, roaming the streets looking for someone to burn."

"So it is scary for anyone who’s a victim of that mob, and it fills me with fear about the future," he concluded.

Unsurprisingly, Rowan's comments didn't go over great on social media.

"Remember when Mr. Bean didn’t say [explective]? I miss that," tweeted one user.

"Cancel culture” is a myth. 1.) it’s consequences of actions (we do not have to support shitty ppl) 2.) who the heck has ever been cancelled!?? (Kevin Hart, Chris Brown, the white Chris, Roman P, Woody Allen...still have careers and make bank. I can’t name 1 person “cancelled”) pointed out @mrstownloner.

"from what I hear about Mr Bean... old mate has VERY good reason to be worried about cancel culture," agreed @leesha666.

Do you agree with Rowan's take on cancel culture? Let us know in the comments below.
