Blake Shelton Faces Backlash Over 'Tone-Deaf' New Song 'Minimum Wage'

Not so happy new year!

When Blake Shelton debuted a new song on New Years Eve, he was probably hoping to start fresh in 2021 with new music, but that doesn't seem to be the reaction his song has gotten from the general public who have accused him of being 'tone deaf.'

Blake Shelton is one of the few people who might've actually had a good 2020.

Not only did the country superstar continue his steady gig as one of the judges on the incredibly popular reality series The Voice, but he also got engaged to his longtime girlfriend (and fellow Voice judge) Gwen Stefani!

However, it's looking like 2021 is not off to a good start for the singer.

Blake just debuted a new song called 'Minimum Wage.'

The lyrics of the song detail how someone's love can "make a man feel rich on minimum wage," and other examples of how being in love can make poor circumstances feel better, like turning a "one bedroom apartment" into "a house up on the hill."

The reaction to the song has not been totally positive.

Some fans have been pointing out that Blake Shelton's song about love making him feel rich isn't exactly necessary when he's already rich.

"Losing my mind watching Blake Shelton, a man who has $100M, sing 'Your love is money, you make me feel rich on minimum wage,'" one fan tweeted.

"blake shelton singing 'your love could make a man feel rich on minimum wage' just cements the fact that rich people have absolutely no clue," another fan added.

What do you think?

Are fans overreacting to the song, or should Blake have thought better about releasing a song about not having money while being a millionaire? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
