Kelianne Stankus Discusses Career Shift From U.S. Gymnastics Team To Making Music

It's safe to say 2020 has been the year for everyone to reflect on what really matters, where our passions lie, and what means the most to us in life!

For some of us, it's been knitting, exercising, or cooking. For Kelianna Stankus, the wildly successful 24-year-old content creator, it's been music.

Diply got the chance to chat with the social media maven about her TikTok career, her past with the U.S. gymnastics team, and what her plans for her future hold.

Kelianne's impressive career has landed her nearly 9 million followers on TikTok, most of which she's gained in the past few months.

The 24-year-old explained to us that her TikTok career starting taking off during the beginning of the pandemic when she found herself surrounded by fellow creators and endless amounts of free time.

“I knew I always wanted to move to LA and conquer the entertainment world," she revealed.

Growing up, Kelianne was a member of the prestigious US National Acrobatic Gymnastics team, competing in the World Championships in 2012. While she insists she won't ever do the sport professionally again, she tries to incorporate gymnastics into her everyday life.

Needless to say, being an entertainer has always been something close to Kelianne's heart.

Now that her foot is in the entertainment door, there's no stopping the ambitious content creator.

"I've always wanted my own TV series... I love binge-watching shows," she explained.

Like many of us, Kelianne is a huge fan of the Netflix mini-series The Queens Gambit and hopes to one day star in her own binge-worthy series.

For now, Kelianne is all about her music. In fact, she just released a new holiday song, "Feels Like Christmas" with her friends and fellow content creators Tayler Holder and Nate Wyatt.

"Feels Like Christmas" is the perfect fresh and festive Christmas song to play while wrapping gifts and sipping eggnog.

Kelianne explained to us she was nervous about recording the track, as it was only her second time in a studio! Thankfully, working with her friends made her feel a lot more comfortable.

"It was a lot of fun," she revealed.

As for the future, Kelianne revealed she hopes to write her own music soon once she branches out into her solo career.

"I'm so, so excited about that," she says.

As far as content collabs go, Kelianne told us she'd love to work with David Dobrek or Liza Koshy.

With how quickly her star is rising, we wouldn't be surprised to see the all-star collab coming down the pipe soon.

When we asked her parting advice for young creators hoping to break into the social media scene, the 24-year-old explained how important it is to believe in yourself.

"It can be scary to put yourself out there but do it full force. Don't hesitate. All that matters is what you’re doing and what you love to do."
