We’ve all heard the saying, “Never meet your heroes.” It’s repeated because not everyone lives up to the pedestal that we so often place them on. Instead, we are severely let down and truly cannot look at that person the same ever again.
Recently, people online shared stories of those “heroes” whom they so regret meeting.
Vince Vaughn and Kevin James
Embed from Getty Images“Vince Vaughn and Kevin James were in New Haven, CT during a movie promotional tour. Everyone that met them said they were total [expletive] [expletive]. Wait staff at restaurants were told not to look at them and not to address them directly. When a waitress asked what he would like to drink, Kevin James said ‘You were told not to talk to me directly.’ Someone went to say hi to Vince Vaughn while he was outside smoking a cigarette and he just barked ‘Get away from me,'” wrote jutct.
Kid Rock
Embed from Getty ImagesOhmygod_my_tinnitus shared that their mom worked for Kid Rock as head of security, and he was a real diva. Before he was going to perform, he had lost a fedora and refused to go on without one.
So someone had to go to a nearby Walmart and buy him a fedora before he went on the stage. He had already been paid to play; he just wanted to make a scene.
Beyoncé
Embed from Getty ImagesPisano87 said his ex-wife was working as Beyoncé’s lawyer when she was trying to buy some real estate. She was “insulted” that she had to initial each page of the 10-page contract for the purchase and annoyed when she had to date the least one because she didn’t know the date of that day.
When the lawyer said it, Beyoncé snapped at her, saying, “Can’t you just do this for me?!” Apparently, she was abrasive with all of her staff there.
Reggie Jackson
Embed from Getty Images“I got a photo with him at some booth at a trade show called ‘Internet World’ years ago during the dot com boom. No one was in line to get pictures with him so i walked up to get a photo while he was apparently trying to get the girls in the next booth over to sleep wtih him… He acted all bugged that I asked for a photo, even though that is what he was hired for and rolled his eyes,” shared clanggedin.
John Stewart
Embed from Getty Imageslotus8189 said that he and his dad went to see John Stewart do standup on his dad’s 40th birthday. They were in the front row in a room full of people in their 20s.
Stewart picked on his father the whole night about being the oldest guy there. He constantly made “old people” jokes at him… on his 40th birthday.
Shaun White
Embed from Getty Images“They were both huge fans but I really didn’t care that much. My friend walked over and asked for a picture. Shaun threw his arm around her and, without taking off the bandana on his face or his goggles, took a picture with her. Her boyfriend asked for a picture afterwards and Shaun responded with “I only take pictures with the ladies…” and walked off. My friend told us on the way home that Shaun had rested his hand on her breast while her boyfriend snapped the pic,” wrote corsair1617.
Slash and Axl Rose
Embed from Getty Images“My dad and his nephew met Slash and Axl Rose at a truck stop. Axl kicked the bathroom door open and almost hit my cousin with it, and told him to get outta the way. My cousin threw him against the wall and told him to apologize. Meanwhile my dad looked at Slash, just daring him to jump in, but he just grabbed axel and walked out,” recalled Shadowclone442.
Sylvester Stallone
Embed from Getty Images“My parents had court side seats at a Lakers game once and he was sitting a few seats over from them. At half time they walked up to just say hello, he proceeded to hit on my mom, dismiss any attempts at a photo (which they weren’t even asking for) and just be all around condescending. My dad was pretty bummed,” said troutburger30.
Jason Momoa
Embed from Getty Images“I was dying to meet Jason Momoa and I finally got the chance to at an after party for a indie movie he was in. It was at a small venue in LA with some bands playing.
Jason walked in and few people started talking to him; once they passed I bought a beer and approached him. I gave him the beer and asked how his night was. He was kinda drunk already from the look of it, but he pounded the beer without saying anything. I wasn’t too sure what to think so I got more to the point and asked if it would be cool to get a pic. He leaned into my face and said, ‘Tonight isn’t about that. Tonight is about me.’ and walked away,” said Im_inappropriate.
Bill Nye
Embed from Getty Imageskomnenos, and many others, shared that Bill Nye the Science Guy isn’t all that nice when you meet him in person. Many shared that he was abrasive, angry, and cursed a lot. The Reddit user said that when his friend’s dad was a producer for his show, he asked Bill to sign a book and talk to his son, and Bill proceeded to tell the dad to “go [expletive] himself,” and wouldn’t sign the ebook for his “little punk brat.”
Billy Joel
Embed from Getty Imagesshazbotabf said they were on Long Island at a deli when Billy Joel walked in and decided to cut the entire deli line. The Reddit user was next, but Joel cut in front of him and started ordering over a dozen sandwiches. They got annoyed, so they said to Joel, “Hey, I think I was next.” Instead of apologizing, Joel said, “Well I guess now I’m next, you [expletive],” and continued his order.
Adam Levine
Embed from Getty Images“Adam Levine is terrible. He constantly talks down to people and is super smarmy/smug if you’re not a fellow celeb. I’ve literally witnessed him being a huge diva to network execs, which was super embarrassing,” said bonsaithot.
Michael Jordan
Embed from Getty Images“My grandma was a casino dealer and met Michael Jordon once and turns out he’s a total [expletive]. She told me he was playing high limit tables and didn’t tip a dime to the cocktail waitress or the dealer (my grandma) or anyone else who served him. When someone who was playing with him asked him about it he said, ‘no one helped me when I was coming up, so I don’t help others,'” wrote SymbioticSimba.
Jared Leto
Embed from Getty ImagesAsplashofwater said that they went to a show where Leto was nasty to the audience. He kicked people out for not doing exactly as he said to do, and even telling people in the front row to go in the back and “take a [expletive] nap” because they weren’t being lively enough for him during the show.
Machine Gun Kelly
Embed from Getty Images“MGK called me a b**ch and said I didn’t deserve to work for him (one day outside hiring company to work the meet and greet) because I didn’t properly answer a question that he asked his tour manager name and everything and said I should’ve assumed it was for me because I’m the girl. He then proceeded to curse out his assistant in front of the meet and greet for not picking up his pain killer prescription the very minute it was called in. His tour manager explicitly said that they don’t typically hire LBGTQ+ (my co worker) if they know better, and they repeatedly called her stupid and a d*ke for sending her conflicting text messages on what to do. Never again,” said briaelena.
Leighton Meester
Embed from Getty Images“I met Leighton Meester at a meet and greet with her band when she was trying her hand at being an indie singer. We were so excited to meet her, waited in line for an hour after her gig, and she was such a brat – no desire to be there and ruined our entire experience. Don’t have a meet and greet if you dont want to meet your fans,” shared clue_liss.
