Ikea Launches A Gingerbread House Kit Complete With DIY Cookie Furniture

Who's a fan of making gingerbread houses? I have to admit I've never actually made one myself. I know — it's pretty shocking.

But now, there's a new way of making that festive gingerbread house. Ikea has released their own kit, and you have to get your hands on it. It's too adorable not to! Ha, ha!

If you thought assembling Ikea furniture was challenging, wait until you get their new DIY gingerbread kit.

I hope your fingers can handle it. But don't worry, there are plenty of instructions provided by Ikea, so I'm sure you can handle it.

Well, they explain it this way: "At IKEA, we believe every house deserves to feel like a home - even if it's made of deliciously sweet gingerbread." Isn't that so sweet of them?

The limited-edition kit includes furniture-shaped cookie cutters as well as simple instructions.

And the cutest thing is that you'll be able to furnish your gingerbread house with edible versions of iconic Ikea furniture. Oh my goodness, I think that's simply fabulous.

There are a few kits complete with cookie cutters available through a contest for Ikea Family Members. But, anyone can download the free kit templates from Ikea's website to make your own DIY furniture cookies at home.

What do you think about that?

Isn't it taking your love for Ikea to a new level or what? Ha, ha! I've got to say I think once you get this gingerbread house assembled, everybody will be so impressed with your skills.

In all honesty, Ikea is trying to make it as easy for you as possible.

If you aren't able to get your hands on one of the limited-edition kits, you can download their free printable assembly instructions for each item of furniture you're planning on putting inside of your gingerbread house. I think I would definitely need those instructions.

Then, simply cut out the templates, and trace around them to cut out pieces of gingerbread.

And then, of course, you bake, assemble, and decorate! Doesn't that sound like fun? I bet you can do this with your kids.

Once you have the gingerbread house ready, you can even share your creation with Ikea by using their hashtag #IKEAHoliday when you post your picture on social media.

It is so tempting, but I've got to be honest, I'm not that great at following instructions. Maybe I should still give it a shot, though!

I think this is one of those activities that would be so fun to do with the whole family.

It's even more imperative now since Christmas will be much different this year. Here's another festive activity you can do with your kids to keep them active and busy at home.

So, what do you think of this? Are you going to try your hand at making an Ikea gingerbread house?

Are you up for the challenge, or do you think it would be too hard to do? I have to say I'm intrigued enough to try it.
