For victims of domestic violence, it can feel near impossible to escape. Moving is a daunting process when living in fear and it leaves many feeling trapped.
In order to combat that, College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving launched a new service that offers free moves for those living in abusive situations, and have already helped many survivors.
Among the other effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a rise in a rather terrifying statistic.

Many countries have reported an increase in IPV, or intimate partner violence, cases since the initial lockdown measures earlier this year.
Many assume this increase was due to those very same measures, as victims were spending more time with their abusers as well as general tensions being higher across the globe.
Escaping one’s abuser has already been proven to be difficult for many victims.

Monetary control can be a common factor, as victims aren’t able to save the money needed to escape.
During these times of increased isolation, that control only increases.
A new program from moving company College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving seeks to help.

Announced earlier this month, College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving now provides free moves to anyone currently living in an abusive situation.
With franchises across the United States and in Canada, they’re hoping to help everyone they can.

Those wishing to use their services need only get in contact with a local domestic violence center. They’ll work in tandem with the nearest College Hunks franchise to coordinate the move, ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
They also aim to bring awareness to the issue that is domestic abuse.

In an interview with Good News Network, College Hunks co-founder Nick Friedman said, “I definitely think our Free Moves for Survivors of Domestic Violence program sheds light on a really important issue that is not often talked about.”
Their charity reaches beyond this new program, though.

College Hunks also partners with Feeding Children Everywhere, a charity that provides healthy meals to children in need. For every job College Hunks completes, they donate two meals, having already donated over one million!
And when COVID-19 ravaged the globe, College Hunks came out to help then, too.

They’ve been providing trucks for the transport of COVID-19 testing supplies and other medical equipment, relocating goods between hospitals, and providing water to healthcare workers.
It’s evident they’re proud of the work they do, as they should be!

“As a purpose driven, socially-conscious organization we’re always looking for ways to positively impact our communities—,” said Friedman in reference to their latest program, “—in this case, particularly for those who feel powerless in unhealthy home situations.”
Though the program only launched earlier this month, they’ve already helped an extraordinary amount of people.

Over 100 free moves have been conducted for victims of domestic violence in the few weeks they’ve provided it, an invaluable service to many.
To see a company doing such good work in many different fields is heartwarming.
While the difference they make has been felt across the country, the survivors they help in particular will surely be forever grateful.
